VfL Wolfsburg vs. Borussia Mönchengladbach

The 2nd matchday in the European competitions is history and next weekend the focus will go back to the respective leagues. On Saturday, for example, the 7th matchday will be played in the Bundesliga and the teams have now already completed the start of the season. At 3:30 p.m., there is the match between VfL Wolfsburg and Borussia from Mönchengladbach, among others. Both teams have experienced a very different last matchday. Find out what we think about this duel in our Wolfsburg vs Gladbach betting tip.

If we take a closer look at the performances of both teams last weekend, they could hardly be more different. The Wolves suffered their first defeat of the season against Hoffenheim and yet VfL are currently third in the table. For the upcoming opponents from Gladbach, on the other hand, things went a lot better. In the Borussia duel, there was a narrow 1:0 victory against BVB. With seven points after six games, there is still plenty of room for improvement for the Foals.

Wolfsburg Form & Balance Check

The Wolves from Lower Saxony have now gone four games without a win. In the Bundesliga, they most recently drew 1-1 with Eintracht from Frankfurt, before losing 3-1 at Hoffenheim last weekend. There was also no success in the top flight during the week. Against FC Sevilla, the Lower Saxons showed a really good performance, but in the end they had to settle for a 1-1 draw due to a more than questionable penalty. They are now on two points after a 0-0 draw with Lille in their opener.

Want to be victorious again

The Wolves have only not shown their best side in the game against TSG from Hoffenheim. In the upcoming game against the Gladbach Foals, the chances they take must improve significantly. Especially Wout Weghorst had a lot of chances in the CL against Sevilla, which he didn’t use. Even though they haven’t won a game in four in a row, Wolfsburg’s start to the season is quite respectable.

Wolfsburg facts & analysis
 – Last four matches not won in a row
 – In third place in the table
 – Only 8 goals scored

Gladbach form & balance check

The start to the new season was certainly a little different for the Foals. With the departure of coach Marco Rose to BVB, the Gladbachers have pretty much turned everything inside out. New coach Adi Hütter has not managed to copy his game onto his team, much to the chagrin of the fans. Last weekend, however, they finally got their second win of the season. In a contested match, the Foals narrowly prevailed 1-0 against BVB.

Fohlen want to go to Europe

After missing out on international football last season, the aim is to get back to Europe this year. Adi Hütter has a good team together and it will probably take some time before Hütter’s idea of the game is also adopted by the team. It will also be important to get at least a point against Wolfsburg on the next matchday. The form curve is pointing upwards anyway, with two wins from the last three games.

Gladbach facts & analysis
 – Very weak start to the season
 – Only six goals scored
 – Currently only in 11th place

Predicted line-up – last update on 30 September 2021

The Wolves from Lower Saxony are finally looking to get back to winning ways and coach Mark Van Bommel is unlikely to change much from his usual 4-2-3-1 system. Brooks, who was suspended in the CL, could play from the start again and Bornauw could move to the bench in his place. The upcoming opponents from Gladbach will probably start with the same eleven as in the 1-0 win against Borussia Dortmund.
