Watford FC vs. Manchester City

Just three days after their 2-1 away win at Aston Villa, Manchester City have their next away game in the Premier League. Opponents are Watford FC on Saturday evening at 18:30 as part of Matchday 14.

The hosts’ supporters are likely to have bad memories ahead of the game. Watford have lost their last three encounters with the reigning champions, all with an incredible goal difference of 0:18. Our Watford vs Man City betting tips will tell you whether we think it could be the same and what we think of the game.

Watford -Man City Tip

The starting situation is clear. Man City are the heavy favourites and want to keep Chelsea FC on their heels with another away win. Recently, the gap has been reduced slightly thanks to four wins in a row, as both Chelsea and Liverpool have dropped four and three points respectively in that period. For Watford, after just three points from their last five games, the main concern is to limit the damage. A point would be rather surprising after their performances in recent weeks.

Watford form & balance check

Watford FC will likely have to tremble to the bitter end to stay in the Premier League this season. A 3-2 home win against Aston Vila was a successful start to the season, but since then the team of master coach Claudio Ranieri has rarely had reason to cheer. At home, they only scored three against Manchester United (4:1). Away from home, only Norwich City (1:3) and Everton FC (2:5) were beaten.

Hornets in a relegation place for the first time?

Apart from the 1-1 draw against Newcastle, there has been one defeat after another. They have lost six of their last eight games, most recently 4-2 at Leicester City and 2-1 at Chelsea FC. The Hornets have now slipped to 17th in the table and the relegation places are only three points away. With a defeat to Man City, Watford could now slip to a relegation place for the first time this season. However, hopes of avoiding a third successive defeat are likely to be limited for the hosts.

Man City form & balance check

The visitors from Manchester will be looking to record a fifth Premier League win in a row on Saturday to keep the pressure on league leaders Chelsea high. Recent results have not been particularly clear-cut, but in the end, even for a top team like Manchester City, it’s all about taking the three points. The 2-0 away win at Man United was followed by a 3-0 home win over Everton FC before West Ham United were beaten 2-1 away from home. Last Wednesday, the Citizens were edged out 2-1 by Aston Villa.

Guardiola raves about Silva

One of the two goalscorers on the day was once again Bernardo Silva, who scored the wonderful goal in the 43rd minute to make it 0-2 in the interval. He had already added his name to the list of goal scorers in the victories against Manchester United and FC Everton. At the press conference after the win against Aston Villa, Pep Guardiola answered the question of whether Silva was one of the best players in the Premier League: “He is the best!” Moreover, he added: “When we scored 98 points (in 2018/19), he was also the best. He has a special ability to do what he wants with the ball.”

Man City Facts & Analysis
 – 32 points from 14 games
 – Last won 1:2 at Aston Villa
 – Won last 4 league games
 – Already safely top of group in CL

Predicted line-up – last update on 3 December 2021

We don’t expect any personnel changes at the hosts. Only Ozan Tufan (knee injury) and Kwadwo Baah (ankle fracture) are missing due to injury. The ex-Cologne player Emmanuel Dennis should start again at left wing.

There will certainly be changes at the Skyblues. Among others, Jack Grealish, Ilkay Gündogan, Kyle Walker, John Stones and Phil Foden could move into the starting eleven. Only Ferran Torres is missing due to injury. Kevin De Bruyne is back in training but is likely to be a squad option at best for the upcoming game.
