The Gunners have lost a lot of ground in the table as arch-rivals Tottenham (three wins in a row) have made perfect use of their slip-ups. With another defeat, Mikel Arteta’s team could slip further, in the worst case even to ninth place.

Southampton form & balance check

It was already the sixth time (!) in the current season that Southampton could not hold on to a lead. Twice they even lost after leading 1:0. The visitors urgently need to work on this problem.

Grani Xhaka recently celebrated his comeback with the Gunners. However, he did not really convince, which is why he could possibly sit on the bench again against Southampton. Mohamed Elneny or Albert Lokonga could play in his place. The fitness of Emile Smith-Rowe is still questionable. He could again be replaced by Gabriel Martinelli, who is also questionable.
Southampton FC are missing Will Smallbone, Stuart Armstrong and Jan Bednarek. However, the starting eleven could remain unchanged compared to the 1-1 draw against Brighton.
