Did anyone expect to see the names Tommy Paul and Daniel Evans in the Montreal quarter-finals? The Brit had still failed in Wimbledon to a qualifier, now he is suddenly playing big.
Not only did he beat Filip Krajinovic, but also Andrey Rublev 6-4, 6-4 and Taylor Fritz 7-6, 1-6, 7-5. A strange result, but apparently he was able to perform when it really mattered.
With 2.30 to 1.60 he is rather behind in the direct duel against Tommy Paul. The US American is playing an undisputedly brilliant tournament, especially his victory over Carlos Alcaraz was outstanding.
In the round of 16, he followed up with a very commanding 6-4, 6-2 win over Marin Cilic. Against Alcaraz, he had missed a whopping 15 break chances, but now he is cooler. Will his twelve centimetre height advantage help him against Evans?

20 years old, world number 82 – and despite being in the quarter-finals of the Canada Masters! Jack Draper is the biggest sensation in Montreal so far. After surviving the qualification, the Briton really got going.
He beat Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-5, 7-6 and a little later benefited from the fact that Gael Monfils had to retire injured. You could call it the luck of the fittest, which a young player has to have once in a while.
Does he have a real chance of winning in his first direct duel with Pablo Carreno-Busta? 2,40 to 1,50, the bookmakers definitely give him them. The Spaniard is in a brutally good mood, has not yet dropped a set, but only 14 games.
