Wimbledon Today – Matches on July 1

There isn’t a single day when this tournament doesn’t make headlines and deliver surprises! As for today’s Wimbledon tips, I’ll be presenting six selected matches as usual, for each of which I’ll be placing different bets using the offerings from top-tier bookmakers like bet365.

Naturally, I’ve focused on interesting second-round matches. After all, everyone wants to know whether Jannik Sinner will be eliminated early again after his five-set thriller in the first round, or if he’ll ultimately succeed in defending his title.

It’s going to be another very exciting day of competition, especially since the wheat has already been separated from the chaff—much like in our bookmaker comparison. Everyone taking the court in London on the first day of July has already won their opening match.

Meanwhile, I’ve picked out some Wimbledon tips for you today, all of which I believe have a good chance of success. I especially expect Jannik Sinner to perform significantly better this time than he did the day before yesterday in his first match since his complete physical collapse at the French Open.

Wimbledon tips for today, July 1: Fucsovics – Tien (12:00 p.m.)

In the second round, the in-form young American Learner Tien faces a tough test against Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics. However, 16th-seeded Tien is brimming with confidence on grass following his convincing four-set opening-round victory.

Fucsovics is considered an extremely tenacious all-rounder who will put up a strong physical fight. However, if Tien executes his flat, precise shots as he did in the first round, he’ll ultimately prevail in a close four-set match.

My expert tip: Tien has a slight edge in every aspect

Wimbledon Betting Today, July 1: Jodar – Carreno Busta (5:00 p.m.)

Veteran Pablo Carreno Busta benefited from an injury-forced retirement in the first round and brings plenty of Grand Slam experience to the table. However, against Jodar’s brutal power tennis, the defensive specialist will be under constant pressure on this extremely fast surface.

Nevertheless, I think the match could go to a fifth set again, just as it did at the French Open about three weeks ago. This all-Spanish matchup is still relatively even at the moment, even though I see the very young Jodar breaking into the top 10 in just a few years.

My expert tip: Get ready for long rallies

Tennis Betting Today, July 1: Merida – Medvedev (1:30 p.m.)

After his absolutely flawless three-set opening victory against veteran Marin Cilic, Daniil Medvedev enters this match as the overwhelming favorite.

Seeded No. 8, the hard-court specialist is radiating extreme focus in London this year and is eager to finally put last year’s bitter first-round exit behind him.

For the young qualifier Daniel Merida, on the other hand, this match on the grandest Grand Slam stage is already the highlight of his career. However, the youngster won’t stand a chance against the Russian’s deep shots and relentless defensive wall.

My expert tip: It could all be over in two hours

Tennis Betting Today, July 1: Sinner – Borges (2:30 p.m.)

After Sinner had to grind it out against Kecmanovic in a dramatic five-set thriller—complete with a bloody foot—in his opener, the No. 1 seed will now be much more focused and better adapted to the slippery grass.

Although his opponent, Nuno Borges, certainly has talent, he faces a mammoth task against the Italian’s powerful, relentless, fast-paced game.

The Portuguese player simply lacks the offensive firepower on grass to consistently trouble Sinner, which is why the South Tyrolean should secure a commanding three-set victory this time around.

My expert tip: Sinner’s shots are on point

Wimbledon today, July 1: Tsitsipas – Djokovic (6:00 p.m.)

For a second-round match, this is a brutal showdown! Since Djokovic is surprisingly seeded only No. 7 this year and Tsitsipas is entering the tournament as an unseeded player, their paths are crossing extremely early.

Tsitsipas had no trouble advancing in the first round, but the veteran Djokovic holds a clear edge in their head-to-head record and still has plenty of energy to spare at the start of the tournament.

On Center Court, the Serb will unleash his laser-like returns to dominate the Greek—who traditionally feels a bit less comfortable on grass—from the start on the backhand side.

My expert pick: Djokovic with only a few hiccups

Wimbledon today, July 1: Rinderknech – Damm Jr. (3:00 p.m.)

After his hard-fought four-set marathon against British qualifier Oliver Tarvet, the Frenchman has advanced to the second round at Wimbledon. As the No. 25 seed, Rinderknech enters this match as the favorite, but he’ll definitely need to step up his game.

His opponent, Martin Damm (ATP 106), is a dangerous young American who, at 2.03 meters tall, has tremendous reach and handed the Frenchman a bitter two-set defeat just a few weeks ago on the Challenger Tour in Bordeaux.

Rinderknech will have to match his first-round performance of 33 aces on the fast grass to avoid another loss to Damm.

My expert tip: Damm to win—he’ll be a bit more aggressive in the rallies
