ATP Finals in Turin, Group Stage, Wednesday

On Wednesday, the green group of the ATP Finals will start their second day of play. After the Novak Djokovic vs Andrey Rublev clash, the next tennis treat followed with the Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Casper Ruud match.

Both athletes had to accept defeat at the start of the tournament. The match between Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud is scheduled for Wednesday at 9 pm.

After just one day of play, the world number four and number eight are already under a lot of pressure. To have a realistic chance of advancing, both need a win on Wednesday night.

Despite being only 23 years old, Stefanos Tsitsipas knows the ATP Finals like the back of his hand. Two years ago, he won the highlight at the end of the season in London.

Back then, the Greek started the tournament by winning two sets against the Russian Daniil Medvedev. This time, the opening match was again against a Russian. However, this time Tsitsipas lost to Andrey Rublev in two sets (4:6, 4:6).

With the finals, a long ATP Tour comes to an end for the 1.93 tall right-hander. With the tournament in Lyon and the ATP Masters 1000 in Monte Carlo, Tsitsipas has two tournament victories to his credit.

Also unforgettable is his appearance in the final of the French Open this summer, when the 2019 Finals winner lost 3-2 to world number one Novak Djokovic after leading 2-0.

Although it wasn’t enough for the Grand Slam title, Stefanos Tsitsipas can be pleased with his results and he is consequently heavily favoured in the Tsitsipas Ruud tip.

It’s no secret that clay is the Greek’s preferred surface. But Tsitsipas can also convince on the hard surface. With a record of 30:12, he has a win rate of 71% on hard courts.

The last four hard court tournaments the 23-year-old played never took him further than the quarter finals (Indian Wells).

Even though the 2019 Finals winner was defeated in two sets on Monday, he often needs all possible sets to decide the match. Therefore, the betting option on “over matches” is a conceivable option in the Tsitsipas Ruud forecast.

Casper Ruud was handed probably the most difficult challenge at the start of the ATP Finals. The 22-year-old Norwegian had to play world number one Novak Djokovic.

Ruud lost to the Serb 6:7 and 2:6 in two sets. All the statistics showed the superiority of the veteran.

On Wednesday evening, the Norwegian will again be the underdog. In the match between Tsitsipas and Ruud, betting on a win for the Scandinavian brings odds of up to approx. 2.65.

The 22-year-old has won an incredible five titles this tennis year. However, all of them were 250 tournaments.

Special attention should be paid to the San Diego Open. Here Ruud proved that he can also convince on the hard surface.

Just like Tsitsipas, the world number eight prefers the sandy surface, but with a win rate of 72%, Ruud has proven that he can win on hard courts as well.

This year, the two tennis players have already faced each other twice. In Canada and Madrid, two Masters tournaments brought this duel to light.

While Ruud won 7:6 and 6:4 in the round of the last 16 in Madrid, Tsitsipas was able to cheer after a 6:1 and 6:4 victory in Canada.

Thanks to his participation in more high-profile tournaments and intense experience at the finals, the Greek is clearly favoured in the Tsitsipas Ruud prediction.

The statistics and the direct comparison of the two athletes promise an exciting match at eye level. Nevertheless, I see the Greek as the clear favourite due to his experience and the fact that he regularly competes in higher rated tournaments.

Since the odds for this Tsitsipas Ruud tip do not seem particularly lucrative, I recommend combining it together with an odds boost.

Our tennis tip: Tsitsipas prevails against Ruud!
