There are some real top players on court in Umag, including Jannik Sinner. In his match against Roberto Carballes, nobody actually expects the Italian to have any serious problems.
The audience in Kitzbühel can rejoice: Filip Misolic has surprisingly reached the quarter-finals! Will his winning streak continue? In Dusan Lajovic he gets a challenging opponent, but not an unbeatable one.
Number 3 against number 5 – the Spanish duel between Albert Ramos-Vinolas and Roberto Bautista-Agut could be a close match. Both are among the best players in the tournament and want to show exactly that.
Further away, in Atlanta, it is mainly US players who are fighting for the title. Tommy Paul therefore has no intention of being eliminated against Ilya Ivashka. Can the Belarusian really hurt his opponent?
The experts have Brandon Nakashima and Frances Tiafoe on their minds when it comes to the cup in the end. So the bookies are predicting a close affair in this encounter.

Whoever is seeded at position 2 is probably automatically one of the top favourites. Jannik Sinner wants to strike in Umag. His start in Croatia was relatively mixed, the 6-4, 6-4 against Jaume Munar was quite close.
After his strong tournament at Wimbledon, where he gave away a 2-0 win over Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals, he took a little time off. Having lost only one set to John Isner and Carlos Alcaraz before that, his performances are not to be diminished.
In Umag he now has to play against Roberto Carballes. He defeated him at the last French Open, coming back strongly from 3-6 down 6-4, 6-4, 6-3. Can the Spaniard now equalise in a direct duel?
After his 6-4, 7-5 against Henri Laaksonen, he had to go into a third set against Alex Molcan, who is in good form, and won 3-6, 6-2, 6-3. He allowed 17 break chances in the two rounds, but he cannot allow himself that against Sinner. 1,15 to 5,00, the bookmakers send the South Tyrolean into the match as the clear favourite anyway.

First he won 6-2, 7-6, against Daniel Dutra da Silva, then he managed an easy victory against Pablo Andujar. 6-4, 6-0, Misolic played as if he had always been at this level.
At his premiere in Kitzbühel he will meet Dusan Lajovic for the first time. The Serb has already reached the top eight here several times, but the last time was four years ago. He has not yet lost a set in the current tournament.
6-4, 7-6 against Alex Sachko and 7-5, 6-3 against Aslan Karatsev, one of the tournament favourites, his form is right. He has only reached a semi-final once before in 2022, so a win on Friday would be top. At 1.30 to 3.50, he is clearly ahead against Misolic.

Which US American will be convincing this time at the tournament in Atlanta? Tommy Paul, seeded fifth, is hoping for a strong result. He started with a quick 6-1, 6-1 against Jack Sock.
He had just as few problems in the following 6-3, 6-3 against Soon-woo Kwon. Whether Denis Shapovalov, Jannik Sinner or Adrian Mannarino, Paul beat some good players in the last weeks.
He will meet Ilya Ivashka for the first time on Friday. The 28-year-old has also already played two matches, but needed more power here. 6-0, 3-6, 6-3 against Quentin Halys, with this strange result he started.
He also needed extra time against Steve Johnsen, coming back strongly after trailing. Paul is ahead in the quarter-finals with the bookies, but odds of 1.50 to 2.40 are relatively close.

1.80 to 2.00? A brutally close duel seems to be brewing between Brandon Nakashima and Frances Tiafoe on Friday. Nakashima is slightly ahead, maybe because he was in the Atlanta final a year ago?
He has already beaten Jordan Thompson and John Millman, but both results (7-5, 3-6, 6-3 and 7-6, 6-4) were damn close. Bad news is definitely that he has lost all three direct duels against Tiafoe.
