Tennis Tips today – Matches today from 21.09.

Qualification is over, here we go in the main draw! The four Grand Slams have recently ended, but the tennis year 2022 is far from over. In the coming days, we will be looking forward to France.

Here in Metz, some stars have announced themselves, not least Hubert Hurkacz and Daniil Medvedev. These two have one more day, starting with a walk-through. So the schedule for Wednesday focuses more on players who are not among the top favourites.

Among them is Dominic Thiem, who wants to make a name for himself in Metz after his final in Rennes. Oscar Otte also wants to show that he has not left his best days behind him.

Tennis tips today 21.09.2022

In Sebastian Korda and Lorenzo Musetti, two youngsters who should have great careers ahead of them meet in the 1st round of Metz. If the bookmakers have their way, the US American has his nose in front.

After losing the final in Rennes by a clear margin, Dominic Thiem also intends to go far in Metz. In his first round, he will face a very experienced opponent in Richard Gasquet, who the bookmakers have in the lead by a narrow margin.

Ugo Humbert should start with a lot of self-confidence, after all, it was he who came out on top in Rennes. But now he has to face Benjamin Bonzi right at the start, not long ago that went badly wrong!

Adrian Mannarino is one of the best players in Metz, seeded eighth. Actually, he should have no problems in his first round against Mikael Ymer, but can he really show such confidence?

From the German point of view, the focus is of course on Oscar Otte. After his early exit at the US Open, he will play Gregoire Barrere on Wednesday. It seems to come down to a close, open match, because the bookies don’t have a favourite!

Tennis tips today broadcast: Where are the matches on 21.09 being played?

The ATP tournament in Metz is one of the smaller competitions, at home in the 250 range. Sky Sport Austria nevertheless has some rallies in the programme, but from a German perspective you have to switch to live streams.

Tennis tips today 21.09.: Sebastian Korda – Lorenzo Musetti (18:00)

Lorenzo Musetti is seeded 3rd in Metz but still the underdog in the 1st round? That’s exactly how it looks at the betting sites when he faces Sebastian Korda. 3.00 to 1.40, so the Italian has to prove himself.

At the US Open he disappointed with a 3rd round exit against Ilya Ivashka, and even before that in Winston-Salem he had failed directly to Richard Gasquet. His top form from July, when he outplayed the entire world elite in Hamburg, is now history.

He has already fought three duels with Sebastian Korda and leads the comparison with 2:1. This year in Madrid, too, the winner was Musetti. So Korda is ahead for this match, although he has already lost twice to Musetti.

In Metz, he has already started playing, winning 6-3, 7-6 against Hugo Gaston. Since he already failed in round 2 to Tommy Paul in New York, every win helps him now.

Our expert tip: 3 sets

Tennis tips today 21.09: Richard Gasquet – Dominic Thiem (18:20)

It was a very different set of emotions that Dominic Thiem went through last week in Rennes. He fought his way to the final in close matches, but was completely without a chance against Ugo Humbert.

He lost 3-6, 0-6, the good approaches from the first set were not enough. Now the 2016 champion from Metz is striving to continue to get good results, and there should be no exception against Richard Gasquet.

At 1:2 he is behind in the direct duel against the Frenchman, whether his odds are also a very small tick higher because of that? Gasquet was quite positive at the US Open, beating Taro Daniel and Mioimir Kecmanovic.

Only against Rafael Nadal was he no match for him. Gasquet has played here in Metz countless times, but the only year that produced a final was 2004, so it’s been an extremely long time!

Our Expert Tip: Win Gasquet

Tennis tips today 21.09.: Ugo Humbert – Benjamin Bonzi (22:05 Uhr)

The fans in Metz will definitely have something to cheer about when two Frenchmen, Benjamin Bonzi and Ugo Humbert, take to the court at the same time. It was only a few weeks ago that the two met at the US Open.

In a real thriller, it was Bonzi who prevailed in the end after five sets. This time, however, Humbert will enter the tournament with fresh self-confidence, having taken the title at the Challenger in Rennes without losing a set.

Now in Metz, he wants to prevent a third consecutive elimination in the first round. Bonzi, who cut a great figure in a 6-7, 4-6, 6-4, 4-6 loss to Nick Kyrgios in the 2nd round at the US Open, was not in the starting line-up here.

The world number 61 is making his debut in Metz, but with compatriot Humbert having triumphed in Rennes, he will have to settle for the role of underdog and odds of 2.10 to 1.70 on Tuesday.

Our Expert Tip: Over 22,5 Games

Tennis tips today 21.09.: Mikael Ymer – Adrian Mannarino (19:35 Uhr)

Seeded at number 8, fans are hoping for a lot from Adrian Mannarino. He has reached the semi-finals once here in Metz, back in 2008, a record he is keen to improve on this year.

At the US Open, the 34-year-old disappointed all along the line, losing to Gijs Brouwer in three straight sets in the first round. Even the title he had won in Winston-Salem did not help him.

He played Mikael Ymer, his current opponent, once in the main draw and won. The bookmakers see him with a relatively narrow lead this Tuesday with 1.60 to 2.35. Is the Swede in top form?

The world number 100 also failed in round 1 in New York, so he could not repeat his strong semi-final at the Citi Open a few weeks earlier. In Metz, he is only playing for the second time.

Our expert tip: 2 sets.

Tennis tips today 21.09.: Gregoire Barrere – Oscar (18:20)

The world number 52 plays the world number 167, and yet the oddsmakers are sending both in with almost identical odds of 1.85? Quite unusual, but understandable given that the German is not long back from injury.

After an immensely strong season on grass, he was eliminated directly from the US Open, but that can happen against Hubert Hurkacz. In Metz he will only start on Wednesday, he has never played against Gregoire Barrere before.

The local hero had to go through qualifying in Metz, but mastered it with flying colours. He first won 6-4, 6-7, 6-2 against Jurij Rodionov, followed by a 7-5, 6-1 against Marton Fucsovics.

The 28-year-old was not bad in Rennes either, but narrowly failed to beat Peter Gojowczyk in the quarter-finals. So is it a bad omen that he will now meet a player from Germany again?

Our Expert Tip: Win Otte
