Tennis Tips Today – Today’s Matches on August 10
Several quarterfinal matches will be played this Monday at the Canadian Open! I’ve taken a closer look at two matches each in the women’s and men’s draws.
As part of my tennis tips for today, I’m also turning my attention to Brownsburg, as the Challenger tournament there promises some interesting matches as well.
Tennis Tips Today – August 10, 2026: Showdown in Toronto!
I’ve given my full attention to both the ATP quarterfinal matches in Montreal and the WTA quarterfinal matches in Toronto, which are taking place overnight from Monday to Tuesday.
I’ve also examined the odds offered by new bookmakers for the Challenger match in Brownsburg between Schwärzler and Andrade and identified a promising betting option.
You’ll probably be hearing a lot about the Austrian soon anyway! The 20-year-old just won the final in Grodzisk Mazowiecki on hard court and is therefore heading to the United States in excellent form!
Montreal picks for today, Aug. 10: Darderi – Nakashima (1:30 a.m.)
Darderi is ready to make waves in Montreal. After just coming back from a set down to defeat Nuno Borges, the Italian is celebrating his first-ever Masters quarterfinal on hard court.
He thrives on emotion and tenacious defense, and likes to drag his opponents into grueling baseline battles, where he often comes out on top in the end!
Nakashima, on the other hand, goes through his routine like a robot. He most recently defeated Arthur Rinderknech in three sets, serves with extreme consistency, and scores points primarily with his flat, no-nonsense backhand.
Their head-to-head record on the tour stands at exactly 1-1: Darderi won in Hamburg on clay in 2025, while Nakashima took no prisoners in Vienna on hard court that same year, winning in straight sets.
My prediction: It’ll come down to the third set!
Montreal Picks Today, Aug. 10: Jodar – Fils (12:00 a.m.)
Both players are eager to secure their spot in the semifinals and bring tremendous power to Montreal’s fast hard court. Jodar was in top form in the round of 16 with a straight-set 6-3, 6-3 victory over Lehecka.
Fils, on the other hand, had to work hard against Cameron Norrie in a 6-2, 7-6 match to secure his spot, but has been impressing this week with extreme power on his forehand.
Their head-to-head record is currently tied at 1-1, after Fils narrowly prevailed on the clay in Barcelona in April and Jódar coldly avenged that loss in straight sets on hard court in Washington at the end of July.
While anything seems possible, Jódar currently appears a touch more consistent on the return on fast hard courts. The Spaniard should therefore prevail in a hard-fought three-set thriller and secure his spot in the semifinals.
My pick: This match also promises a thrilling third set!
Toronto Picks for Today, August 10: Shnaider – Swiatek (1:00 a.m.)
Tonight’s quarterfinal at the WTA National Bank Open in Toronto features an extremely exciting matchup between Diana Shnaider and Iga Swiatek.
Shnaider pulled off a massive upset in the round of 16 when she swept the third-seeded defending champion Jessica Pegula off the court in quick fashion, 6-3, 6-2, displaying impressive dominance in the process.
Swiatek, on the other hand, had to dig deep against Marta Kostyuk: After a disastrous first set in which almost nothing went right on her own serve, the Polish player completely turned the match around and ultimately gained a huge boost of confidence with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 victory.
Looking at my betting prediction, a close, back-and-forth battle is expected, as Shnaider will be playing with confidence and her unnerving left-handed spin, but the Polish player has found her rhythm following her comeback in the round of 16 and should come out on top in the end.
Especially since she already managed to defeat Shnaider in three hard-fought sets last year in Madrid.
My pick: Swiatek has found her rhythm!
Toronto Picks Today, Aug. 10: Alexandrova – Svitolina (2:30 a.m.)
Alexandrova comes into this match with tremendous momentum after causing the tournament’s biggest upset in the round of 16, knocking world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka out of the competition 7-6, 4-6, 6-4 in a two-and-a-half-hour, three-set thriller.
Svitolina, on the other hand, put on an extremely composed performance against Amanda Anisimova and cruised effortlessly into the quarterfinals with a commanding 6-2, 6-4 victory.
Although Svitolina leads their head-to-head record 3-1, Alexandrova won their most recent matchup. As a result, a thrilling back-and-forth battle is almost guaranteed!
While Alexandrova is likely brimming with confidence following her triumph over Sabalenka and will take full risks from the baseline, Svitolina brings a more solid defensive foundation and better counterattacking skills to the table.
My prediction? The Ukrainian should narrowly prevail in a hard-fought three-set thriller because she remains more patient in long rallies, and Alexandrova might be running a bit low on energy in crunch time after her grueling match against Sabalenka.
My pick: And this match could also go to a third set!
Tennis Picks for Today, August 10: Schwärzler – Andrade (4:00 p.m.)
Joel Schwärzler has traveled to Brownsburg, USA, riding a wave of momentum after working his way close to the world’s top 150 with stellar performances in recent weeks and being able to generate enormous pressure with his powerful left-handed forehand.
Andres Andrade, on the other hand, is an experienced, tenacious baseline player, but he struggles noticeably more on fast hard courts against opponents with aggressive serves.
By the way: In their head-to-head record, the Austrian leads 1–0, as Schwärzler already defeated the Ecuadorian in two sets back in 2025.
Since the young pro, who grew up in Vorarlberg, should be highly motivated anyway thanks to his tournament victory in Poland, the path forward is clear to me: If Schwärzler sticks to his aggressive game from the start and keeps his serve consistent, he’ll simply overpower Andrade.
My pick: Schwärzler with plenty of class!
Brownsburg Picks Aug. 11: Schoolkate – Cina (5:00 p.m.)
Today’s first-round match at the ATP Challenger in Brownsburg features an exciting showdown on hard court between Australian Tristan Schoolkate and Italian rising star Federico Cina.
Both pros are currently ranked close together at 187th and 178th in the ATP rankings, which promises an extremely even match between two evenly matched opponents right from the start.
Schoolkate brings his usual strength to fast North American hard courts and consistently looks to win quick points with his powerful serve.
Cina, on the other hand, has been in very solid form this season and has proven himself on the tour as an extremely tenacious baseline player who can prolong rallies with a wide variety of shots.
All in all, given their very similar skill levels, a hard-fought three-set match is likely, though Schoolkate should ultimately edge out a narrow victory thanks to his slightly greater serving power on this fast surface.
My pick: Schoolkate is being underestimated by the bookies!
