Tennis Tips for Today – Today’s Matches on August 1

It’s worth getting up early this weekend. That’s because most of today’s and tomorrow’s tennis picks will be decided around noon. And with a bookmaker that offers cashout, you’ll be spoiled for choice.

Even though we’ll be covering the smaller tournaments together now, you’ll still be able to enjoy some interesting betting offers on the various Challenger matches at the bookmakers we’ve featured.

Tennis Picks Today – August 1, 2026: Washington Preview

Once the historic Wimbledon tournament is over, tennis fans’ attention usually shifts quickly to the hard-court season in North America.

Via stops like Washington, Los Cabos, and Memphis, the season gradually builds toward one of the biggest highlights of the tennis year: the US Open. Will Carlos Alcaraz perhaps celebrate a successful comeback there after his long hiatus?

Bonn Tips Today, August 1: Choinski – Gomez (10:00 a.m.)

A highly thrilling match is unfolding on the red clay court between the British-German veteran Jan Choinski and the nimble Argentine Federico Agustin Gomez.

Choinski consistently relies on his physical presence in his matches, whipping his heavy forehand with plenty of spin over the net and literally forcing his opponents to scramble meters behind the baseline.

Federico Agustin Gomez, however, is a classic clay-court fighter who tirelessly scrapes every ball out of the corners and doesn’t falter easily when faced with his opponent’s pace.

In this first-ever matchup, everything comes down to the limits of patience: If Choinski can impose his power on his own serve, Gómez will quickly be forced onto the defensive.

However, if the Brit lacks the necessary precision, the Argentine will entangle him in grueling, energy-sapping rallies where errors are inevitable.

In the end, I believe Choinski has the slightly greater power to actively shape the crucial points himself and seal the deal after a hard-fought battle.

My pick: Choinski clinches a spot in the final!

Liberec Picks for Today, August 1: Kumstat – Nagal (10:00 a.m.)

Jan Kumstat takes on Indian Davis Cup veteran Sumit Nagal in the semifinals in Liberec. Kumstat brings tremendous physicality and a powerful serve to the table, but he often tries too hastily to win quick points on the red clay.

Sumit Nagal, on the other hand, feels right at home on this surface and plays like a human wall. The Indian digs out even the hardest shots from the defensive end and cleverly varies his play with high topspin to the opponent’s backhand. That could be the key against the Czech!

For the young Czech, this match will be the ultimate test of his maturity.
If Kumstat tries to force the rallies to a quick end, his unforced error rate will skyrocket against Nagal’s stoic baseline defense.

I expect Nagal to wear down the teenager with his immense footwork and ultimately control the match confidently thanks to his experience.

My prediction: There could be several tiebreaks!

Samsun today, Aug. 1: Miyoshi – Bittoun (9:00 a.m.)

In this hard-court matchup in Samsun, Turkey, Japanese rising star Kenta Miyoshi faces the tenacious Frenchman.

Miyoshi has noticeably moved up the rankings on the tour in recent months with his aggressive, modern baseline tennis, scoring points primarily with his whipping forehand from the center of the court.

His French opponent, on the other hand, defines his game largely through variety and defensively prolonging rallies. However, on fast hard courts, he typically struggles against aggressive players who actively try to hit winners!

Miyoshi will try to seize the initiative from the very first second and dictate the pace with quick angled shots. As soon as the Japanese player achieves the necessary percentage on his own serve, he’ll rob his opponent of any time to make controlled changes in rhythm.

All in all, I expect a dominant performance from the Japanese player, who—thanks to his greater shot power and more consistent conversion of opportunities—will ultimately prevail quickly and soon break into the ATP Top 500.

My pick: A clear difference in class is evident!

Targu Mures Picks for Today, August 1: Quevedo – Jones (3:00 p.m.)

Finally, something for fans of women’s tennis. Quevedo has firmly established herself on the tour with her incredibly versatile baseline game and great patience in long rallies, and is currently impressing in Romania with an extremely low racket trajectory.

Her American opponent, on the other hand, is all about pushing forward, relying on easy points off her first serve and trying to finish rallies at the net in a flash.

Against a defensively strong player like Quevedo, however, this very unconditional drive for winners becomes a walk on a razor’s edge.

In this first head-to-head matchup, footwork during direction changes will be the primary deciding factor. If Quevedo finds her rhythm and applies deep spin to her opponent’s backhand, the attacker will quickly lose her footing and make impatient errors.

I expect an intense match, though Quevedo’s greater consistency from the baseline will ultimately give her the upper hand.

My prediction: Quevedo with significantly more winners!
