French Open Today – Matches on June 2

A total of five singles quarterfinal matches are taking place at the French Open today: three in the women’s draw and two in the men’s.

Of course, I’ve spread my focus evenly across all tennis bets, even though the Jodar vs. Zverev match is undoubtedly the absolute highlight of the day here. After all, Zverev could soon become the first German winner at Roland Garros in nearly 100 years!

French Open today – June 2, 2026

Actually, everyone wants to watch the French Open live today and tomorrow! Because Alexander Zverev is storming through Roland Garros unstoppably, is in the quarterfinals, and according to the bookmakers, his chances of his first Grand Slam triumph have never been better!

For the five quarterfinal matches taking place today—two in the men’s draw, three in the women’s—I’ve placed a total of four tennis bets. But let’s go through the most interesting matches one by one.

In the men’s draw, things are heating up as Zverev takes on Spain’s top talent, Rafael Jodar, followed by Jakub Mensik’s Next Gen showdown against Joao Fonseca.

But of course, we’ll also take a look at the women: With Andreeva facing Cirstea and the Ukrainian derby between Svitolina and Kostyuk, thrilling matches await, where a high-level exchange of shots is practically guaranteed!

French Open today, June 2: Jodar – Zverev

Zverev heads into this quarterfinal with maximum momentum. After his absolutely dominant three-set victory over Jesper de Jong, the German is in peak physical condition and brimming with consistency.

Due to the historic upset of top seeds in Paris, he is the clear favorite to reach the final as the No. 2 seed. His vast Grand Slam experience will be the deciding factor at this late stage of the tournament.

While 19-year-old Jodar is the absolute sensation of the clay-court season, he is completely running on fumes. He had to go the full five-set distance against both Michelsen and in his epic comeback against Carreno Busta.

Jodar has thus already spent over eleven hours on the red clay in Paris. Zverev will brutally punish the teenager’s mounting fatigue with his relentlessly long baseline rallies and close out the match with a lead of at least two sets.

My expert tip: Jodar runs out of steam early

French Open today, June 2: Mensik – Fonseca

This quarterfinal between the two talented youngsters promises to be an epic battle of attrition. Both players have made history in Paris, but their path to the quarterfinals has taken an enormous toll on them.

Mensik has proven himself to be a true marathon man, defeating Navone and then top-10 star Rublev in back-to-back intense five-set battles.

His physicality and his serve (13 aces against Rublev) are at an elite level, but throughout the match, he repeatedly showed noticeable lapses in concentration marked by double faults.

Fonseca will capitalize on precisely these fluctuations. The 19-year-old Brazilian is riding a massive wave of euphoria following his victories over Djokovic and Ruud. He possesses the explosive groundstrokes to completely overpower Mensik at times.

However, since Fonseca himself has shown in his matches against Prizmic and Djokovic that he tends to fall behind in sets and needs time to get going, a straight-sets victory over the Czech is virtually out of the question.

My expert tip: A rollercoaster of emotions

French Open today, June 2: Andreeva – Cirstea

Andreeva loves the extremely slow clay court, as her nearly flawless defensive counter-tennis and tactical maturity drive her opponents absolutely mad. She cruised through the first week with ease and is brimming with confidence.

The experienced Romanian Sorana Cirstea, on the other hand, is a player who thrives on rhythm and relies on her flat, aggressive forehand. However, this hard-hitting style suits Andreeva perfectly: the more pace Cirstea brings, the more dangerous the young Russian’s counterattacks become.

In their last head-to-head match this season, Andreeva kept her cool in the decisive set.

Since Cirstea tends to play too impatiently on clay anyway and her error rate rises rapidly during long rallies, she will face immense problems against Andreeva’s rubber-wall defense.

My expert tip: Andreeva better in crunch time

French Open today, June 2: Svitolina – Kostyuk

Svitolina enters the match as a slight favorite thanks to her greater experience in the late stages of Grand Slams, but Kostyuk has proven this year that she is definitively among the absolute world class in terms of her game.

Svitolina has impressed in this tournament with her usual, error-free defensive play from the baseline and remarkable efficiency on her own break points. Kostyuk, on the other hand, plays much more aggressively, takes the ball early, and will try to keep Svitolina under constant pressure.

Since both players know each other inside and out, this will develop into an extremely tough, tactical match with the lead changing hands.

Kostyuk’s high-risk power game will make a splash at the start of the match, but Svitolina’s mental maturity and her brutal consistency on clay will prevail over the full distance in a long match.

My expert tip: It’s almost guaranteed to go to the 3rd set!
