Betting odds, Tennis Tip & Prediction for Andy Murray – Alexander Zverev

Indian Wells has reached the 3rd round, slowly but surely the matches are getting more and more interesting. The men are competing in the absence of Novak Djokovic, so there are several title favourites.

It is logical that Alexander Zverev is also one of the title candidates. The Olympic champion is one of the hottest irons in the fire, but he will already face a tough opponent in the 3rd round. A tough opponent ranked 121 in the world? This must be a special player…

He’s been on the tour for 16 years, won almost everything and is arguably one of the greatest fighters the sport has seen in recent years. A certain Sir Andy Murray wants to topple Alexander Zverev!

In the late autumn of his career, the Scot can find his way back to his best game on good days and threaten any player with it. With Adrian Mannarino, he got a tough opponent out of the way right away in the 1st round.

6-3, and 6-2, Murray gave the Frenchman no chance. Not many believed in his chances when a few days later the young Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz was waiting On one side an 18-year-old, on the other a veteran with an artificial hip joint

The first set went 7-5 to the youngster, but then experience prevailed. 6-3 and 6-2 – Murray quite rightly celebrated a magnificent victory. Why shouldn’t he also succeed against Zverev?

A few days ago in San Diego, the old master already showed strong form, losing only very narrowly to the second seed Casper Ruud. In Metz, he also failed after a great fight against the eventual tournament winner Hubert Hurkacz

Ended against the champion in the last two tournaments – from the German point of view, it would be a successful story if Murray loses to Zverev on Tuesday and the latter is crowned the winner a few days later!

But beware, Murray still has what it takes to hurt the big boys. Stefanos Tsitsipas needed a full five sets at the US Open and was on the brink of elimination. By the way, Zverev knows how it feels to lose to this opponent.

2016 and 2020 were the two head-to-head duels that resulted in respective defeats.

With all the praise for Andy Murray’s still-present fighting spirit, we must of course not forget that on a normal day Alexander Zverev is a very different proposition to Carlos Alcaraz.

After a walk-through in the first round, the German started against the US-American Jenson Brooksby. He had slight problems, but won 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 67% of his first serves went over the net, he has had better results.

Nevertheless, he was allowed to celebrate after his victory, because it is already clear: Zverev can no longer be denied a place at the ATP Finals in Turin in November. But before he goes to Italy, the Hamburg-born player wants to triumph in Indian Wells.

After his dramatic semi-final exit at the US Open against Novak Djokovic, the Laver Cup brought him a welcome change, and he snatched a victory over John Isner in the singles.

In 2016, by the way, Zverev had reached the last 16 once at this Masters, so it’s not his favourite tournament yet. Andy Murray, on the other hand, has already played great matches here.

His biggest success: The final of the year 2009, which he lost clearly to Rafael Nadal. He hasn’t competed in Indian Wells since 2017, and his comeback can already be described as a success.

Rank 4 against rank 121 – based purely on the world rankings, I don’t really have to name a favourite in my Murray Zverev tip. Of course, the mere ranking is not an indication to assume a clear result here.

But whoever takes out Adrian Mannarino and Carlos Alcaraz has shown that he can still be red-hot.

Since Alexander Zverev definitely had slight problems in his opening match and lost both direct duels against the Scot, I can well imagine that the fans will experience a somewhat longer match on Tuesday.
