Altmaier – Gaston Prediction: Bastad, July 14, 2026

ATP Tournament in Bastad, 1st Round on Monday, July 13, 2026, 10:00 a.m.

If you’ve already made good headway toward cashing out a promising sports betting bonus, I’d highly recommend my Altmaier vs. Gaston tip for that final push!

That’s because the “Altmaier to Win” bet at odds of around 1.64 is, in my view, slightly undervalued given his French opponent’s grueling schedule!

Gaston, ranked No. 118 in the ATP world rankings, was still playing in a Challenger final in Braunschweig as recently as Sunday and is now traveling to Sweden at the last minute to start the tournament. The German, on the other hand, has had much more time to prepare for this first round.

Altmaier vs. Gaston AI Predictions:

There are plenty of good soccer betting providers, but for tennis betting—and especially for a solid Altmaier vs. Gaston pick—you can always turn to the bookmaker listed above!

You might also want to consider the “1st Set & Win: Altmaier” bet at odds of around 1.98. After all, it can’t be ruled out that the German will start strong, hit a slight slump in the middle, and then decisively pick up the pace again down the stretch.

The grass-court season has been less than thrilling for the Kempen native so far—there’s little to sugarcoat there! But back on clay, he should hold his own sooner or later. Against players well outside the top 100, he usually performs at a higher level anyway.

Predicted chance of winning:

Altmaier to win
Gaston to win
68.5%
31.5%

The German might hit a rough patch here and there, but I still see him ultimately winning this match without losing a set rather than with one. At a good sportsbook, I’d therefore take a shot at 2:0 for Altmaier at 2.60.

The Frenchman may have won several qualifying and Challenger matches in a row at the end of June, but in the spring he regularly played major ATP tournaments on clay without ever making a deep run in any of them.

In short: His appearance in the final of a Challenger tournament in Braunschweig is hardly impressive, given that between March and June he lost 9 of his 14 clay-court matches against mostly mediocre to stronger opponents. For Altmaier, this is definitely a winnable match!

What to keep in mind when betting on Altmaier vs. Gaston

  • The clay-court showdown in Bastad: In the first round of the Nordea Open, German clay-court specialist Daniel Altmaier and French trickster Hugo Gaston will face off on red clay for the first time.
  • Gaston Under Constant Pressure: The Frenchman (ranked No. 118 in the world) is heading to Sweden with momentum on his side; just last Saturday, he fought his way to a three-set victory (5-7, 7-6, 7-5) over Facundo Díaz Acosta in the semifinals at Braunschweig.
  • Altmaier’s clay-court comfort zone: The German, ranked 85th in the world, is considered a proven specialist in long, physically grueling battles; Altmaier has played well over half of his professional matches on clay and has already defeated Jannik Sinner on this surface.
  • Tactical Style Clash: While Altmaier relies on his one-handed backhand, extreme topspin, and physical stamina, Gaston will try to disrupt the German’s rhythm with venomous drop shots—their head-to-head record is tied at 1–1.
