Few days ago, the first of two games of the doubleheader between the Dallas Mavericks and the Memphis Grizzlies was played. The Grizz was able to capitalize on its home court advantage despite the many blowouts.
In the rematch, however, I assume in my Mavericks Grizzlies tip after an in-depth analysis that it will be the Texans who will get the victory this time. There are several reasons for this.
Let’s face it: When I tuned in for the first clash between these two teams this weekend, I knew I was going to see a matchup between two starting five formations that were weakened by injuries.
On the one hand, the Mavs were missing two of the team’s absolute superstars in Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, while the Grizz had a much longer list of significant absences.
Adams, Clark, LaRavia, Williams and the elementary important Ja Morant will also be absent in the rematch. Last season’s MIP is currently in the throes of scandal – a return to the court is currently out of the question!
On the court: The Grizzlies won a close 112-108 victory over Dallas last Sunday in an S5 formation consisting of Jackson-Brooks-Tillman-Bane-Janders, who proved to be more accurate in a completely even match.
For it was only in the 2-point field-goals-percentage category that Memphis showed a striking 7.5 percentage point difference over its opponent, which arguably made the Mavericks’ 34th loss of the season official at the end of a close basketball game.
But tonight, Dallas should be able to successfully bounce back for several reasons. Because while Ja Morant faces a lengthy suspension for his offense, at least one of the Mavs’ two superstars could return.
Without Doncic and Irving, the Mavs lacked that little bit of precision from inside and outside the arc to pull away from their opponents. Consequently, I’ve been paying close attention to the status of both players for tonight.
Both have only minor injuries to heal, which should not prevent them from returning to the floor as early as next week. But for Kyrie Irving, there’s a good chance it could be as early as the rematch against The Grizz.
Meanwhile, home advantage should play into the Texans’ favour!
Not because they’re above-average at home, but rather because their opponents are miserable on the road – Memphis has won just one of its last 12 NBA outings.
Either way, the rematch promises to be exciting and Memphis is seemingly capable of pulling off great basketball even without Ja Morant.
Dallas will have to find a way to shut down Bane and Roddy – who scored 25 and 24 points respectively in the Grizzlies’ win the day before yesterday.
However, despite the two teams being separated by just four points a few days ago, the Dallas win odds were a whopping 3.40 in a Bet365 sportsbook before the game.
This shows that the surprisingly strong Mavs have done much better than the sports betting providers had given them credit for in advance – no wonder, without Doncic and Irving!

Because for a successful revenge of the Texans, the bookmakers have estimated a win rate of about 2.05, whereas it is for a renewed triumph of the talented troop from Memphis in about 1.80, which moves over the counter.
Conclusion: While Ja Morant faces a long suspension, his boys continue to perform above average!
But away from home, Memphis are generally not to be trusted from a sports betting fan’s perspective. Despite their second place in the Western Conference, they have only won one of their last 12 NBA games away from home.
For the Mavs, on the other hand, only the return of Kyrie Irving, which has already been hinted at, will be enough tonight to put the Texans back on the winning track for good.
