The track of the Austria Formula 1 GP

The Silverstone Formula 1 GP is run at the tradition-rich Red Bull Ring. It opened in 1969 as the Österreichring and was known as the GP Österreich in Zeltweg in the seventies.

In the mid-1990s, the circuit was completely rebuilt and reopened on 15 May 2011 as the A1 Ring.

Formula 1 races were held here again between 1997 and 2003, until the top class of motorsport took its leave for 11 years.

On 22 June 2014, a Formula 1 race was held again after a break of more than ten years.

The Red Bull Ring has ten corners in total. Seven right turns and three left turns.

A lap begins with an uphill, sharp right turn after the start, followed by the hairpin, the best overtaking opportunity, after the long uphill straight. The cars have to brake down from over 320 km/h to 70 km/h here.

Downhill there is a right-hand bend, and the two fast left-hand bends in the infield then lead into the two finishing bends.

Interesting: At the Formula 1 Spielberg GP there is an enormous gradient on the track. The maximum gradient is 12 per cent, the maximum gradient is 9.3 per cent.

Spielberg’s record winner is Max Verstappen with four victories. Interesting: Verstappen won the last two races at the Red Bull Ring in 2021.

The last 5 Spielberg winners

Who is favourite for the Spielberg Grand Prix 2022?

Who will win the 2022 Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg?

For German-licensed bettors, Max Verstappen is considered the heavy favourite to win the Austrian Grand Prix in the run-up to the event.

Even though his run of success came to an end last weekend at Silverstone. Until then, the reigning world champion had won six of the last seven races. Among them were Baku and Montreal.

In addition, Max Verstappen won both Spielberg races last year. In total, he has already won four times here.

Who could be a threat to Verstappen at the Austrian Grand Prix this Sunday?

If Formula 1 betting odds are anything to go by, Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc is likely to be his biggest opponent for victory.

However, Carlos Sainz, for example, recently won at the Silverstone GP. The self-confidence should be right.

But Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Perez could also be in line for a win at the Formula 1 Spielberg GP. After all, the Mexican was the only one to break “Mad Max’s” interim winning streak. That was at the race in Monte Carlo.

The question remains: Can Mercedes compete for victory at the 2022 Formula 1 Spielberg GP?

Recently, Lewis Hamilton showed a strong sign of life with two third places.
