With big steps the Bundesliga is heading towards its season finale and there are only five matchdays to go. At the end of this round, four more exciting matches will take place on Sunday. Union will go into the upcoming match with a 4:1 win from the derby behind them and with another victory, the Eisernen could take the next step towards Europe. What we think about the upcoming match, you can find out in our Union – Frankfurt tip.

If we take a closer look at the Bundesliga table before the start of the 30th matchday, we see that the Eisern are currently in an outstanding seventh place. Union have 44 points on their account. Union Form & Balance Check

The Eisernen from Berlin are currently swimming on a small wave of success. Last weekend’s commanding 4:1 victory over city rivals Hertha BSC was probably one of the reasons why the mood in the east of the capital is currently so buoyant. The game at Berlin’s Olympiastadion went exactly as the Eisernen had planned. Union put on the pressure early on and midway through the first half the East Berliners took a 1:0 lead through Haraguchi. Then Union conceded an own goal through Baumgartl, but Prömel and Becker restored the old lead and even extended it. Then it was Michel who put everything to bed with his goal to make it 4:1

Is the road to Europe leading again?

The Berliners still have the international business in their own hands and they will do everything they can to reach the Europa League or at least the Conference League. Of course, Berlin’s good season has not gone unnoticed by other teams. Prömel, for example, is moving back to his training club, TSG Hoffenheim, after the end of the season. Goal scorer Awoniji is also being linked with a move to the Premier League. Newcastle, for example, are said to be willing to pay just under € 30 million.

Union facts & analysis

 – Currently in 7th place with 44 points.
 – Last game won 4:1 against Hertha
 – Last two games won

Frankfurt Form & Balance Check

The Eintracht from Mainz suffered a very sensitive 1:2 defeat against the Sport-Club from Freiburg on the last matchday. Against the team from Breisgau, the Hessians were not grippy enough, especially in the duels. Perhaps it was a bit too much after the exhausting game against FC Barcelona during the week. The 2-1 defeat means that Eintracht are now a full five points behind the international places, and if they lose in Berlin as well, Eintracht fans will have to prepare for days off during the week, because there will be no more international football on the Main.

Away very strong this season

What was not necessarily to be expected is nevertheless a small surprise. Eintracht from the Main prefer to get their points away from home this year. With 22 points already, the SGE is in fifth place in the away table. Frankfurt will again come through their commitment and passion against the Berliners. If we take a closer look at the data, we see that Frankfurt have the third most duels in the entire league after Mainz and Bielefeld. Despite the defeat against Freiburg, the hopes for international business are still alive. An example must be taken from the final spurt of the Hinrunde. Back then, Frankfurt picked up a strong twelve points from their last five games.

Frankfurt facts & analysis

 – Currently in 9th place with 39 points.
 – Last lost with 1:2 against Freiburg
 – Won the first leg narrowly with 2:1

Predicted line-up – last update on 15 April 2022

The Berliners can be very relaxed about the upcoming match against Frankfurt. Coach Urs Fischer has no injured players to complain about and therefore the Eisernen will also start in the same formation as against Hertha. Frankfurt will rely on their usual 3-4-2-1 system in the upcoming match, with Lindström, Borre and Kamada up front.
