Tottenham Hotspur vs West Ham United

On Sunday, the eyes of soccer fans are once again on the island. There it comes to another matchday in the Premier League. Number 30 is upon us and on Sunday at 17:30 the focus will be on the capital London. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will host the derby between Spurs and the Hammers of West Ham. We see both teams completely on par and both are fighting for a place in the international business this season. What we think about this pairing, you can read in our Tottenham – West Ham tip.

The Spurs play a rather poor season, even if the men from North London are currently back on course for the Europa League. Currently, Kane & Co. are in seventh place with 48 points and only three goals behind their upcoming opponents West Ham. However, Spurs have a slight advantage as they still have a game in hand. The winner of this derby could take a big step towards qualifying for the EL.

Tottenham form & balance check

If we look at the season so far of Spurs, then it quickly becomes clear, once again, the men from North London clearly lag behind their own expectations. Before the season, the announcement was that it should at least go to the Champions League. Nine matchdays before the end, Spurs are now even trembling for participation in the Europa League. Tottenham is simply not playing consistently enough this year and that is particularly noticeable in the results. Three wins and two defeats have the Spurs in the last five games to show.

Too much burden on Kane?

One of the main reasons Spurs have struggled this year is the lackluster output of Harry Kane. The striker is having a very poor season by his standards and so far he has 22 goals and two assists in 40 games. The lack of goals is one of the reasons why Tottenham are struggling. In addition, there are performances against the supposedly smaller teams of the league, which are difficult to explain. For example, there were defeats against Burnley & Co.

Tottenham facts & analysis

 – 7th place in the Premier League, 48 points.
 – Last won 2:0 against Brighton
 – Only 44 goals scored

West Ham form & balance check

The Hammers are on track to qualify for the Europa League for the second time in a row. Currently, it is the sixth place for the team of coach David Moyes and this is something that the Hammers have more than earned. While the performance from the last five games has left a little to be desired, last weekend’s win against Aston Villa has put West Ham back on track.

Advancing in the Europa League

During the week, the important second leg in the Europa League against Sevilla FC was on the schedule. The Londoners had lost the first leg 1-0 at the Andalusians and last Thursday coach Moyes’ eleven had a really good day. The score was 1-0 after 90 minutes thanks to a goal by Soucek and the match had to go into extra time. Once again, it was Yarmolenko who scored the golden goal to send the team through to the quarter-finals. Olympique Lyon will now be waiting there.
