Tottenham Hotspur vs. Everton FC

The clash between Tottenham Hotspur and Everton FC on the upcoming Premier League matchday sounds a lot more attractive than it is likely to be. For here a team in the fight for the Europa League meets a relegation candidate, both close the 28th matchday with their direct duel on Monday. Kick-off is at 21:00 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Spurs and Toffees both need points to reach their goals, one point would be too little for both teams. Our prediction for this match can be found in the following Tottenham vs Everton tip.

Spurs are currently in seventh place in the table. However, the table reads a bit confused at the moment due to the many catch-up games. Tottenham have collected 42 points from 25 games, while fifth-placed West Ham have 45 points from 27 games. Everton, on the other hand, have only played 24 games, but have only collected 22 points from them. That leaves the Toffees in 17th place at the moment, just one point off the relegation places.

Tottenham Form & Balance Check

Antonio Conte continues to work towards his desired vision of Tottenham. In some phases, the team can already implement many approaches of the coach, whose signature is always recognizable. But too often the good performances alternate with weaker games.

In the last ten games, Spurs have conceded six defeats and won only four, which of course does not live up to the club’s expectations. In the clash with relegation-threatened Everton, a win is urgently needed to get back on track.

Spurs drop out of cup

Downs and wins have alternated in Spurs’ last five games. The 2-0 defeat against Wolverhampton was followed by a spectacular and surprising 3-2 win against the supposedly invincible Citizens from Manchester. However, Tottenham were unable to gain any momentum from this and lost again shortly afterwards against relegation candidates Burnley, only to dispatch Leeds United 4-0 in the following match.

To complete the rollercoaster, however, Spurs recently added their name to the list of casualties of favourites Middlesbrough. In the last 16 of the FA Cup, the Londoners were beaten 1-0 by the second division club, who had already sensationally eliminated Manchester United.

Tottenham facts & analysis

– 7th place in the Premier League, 42 points.
– Last lost 0:1 against Middlesbrough in the F.A. Cup
– Only 4 wins from last 10 games

Everton form & balance check

Everton FC have been an unexpected crisis team this year. In the last 15 seasons, the Toffees have always been at least in the secure midfield with an upward tendency, and it was not unusual for the team to be within touching distance of the international places during this long period. This season, however, the Liverpool team is in such a mess that they are seriously worried about relegation.

While Everton still have a few games of catch-up left to play against their direct rivals, their haul of 22 points from 24 already speaks volumes.

FA Cup as encouragement?

The last few weeks don’t inspire too much hope for the big turnaround either. There has only been one win from the last nine league games. However, the Toffees did get one against their direct rivals Leeds, which made the three points all the more valuable. However, this was followed by two defeats against Southampton and Man City, in which Everton failed to score a goal of their own. Most of their success has come in recent weeks in the FA Cup, where they have come through three successive rounds since the start of the year, most recently beating fifth division side Boreham during the week.

Everton facts & analysis

– 17th in the Premier League, 22 points.
– Last win in the F.A. Cup 2:0 against Boreham
– Only 1 win from last 9 league games

Predicted line-up – last update on 5 March 2022

A top eleven has emerged at Spurs recently, with Conte making only marginal changes in recent league games. Winter new signing Bentancur could return to the starting eleven after injury, otherwise Winks is again the substitute. Other options for the starting line-up are Doherty and Lucas Moura.

Everton coach Frank Lampard, appointed only a few weeks ago, has also opted for continuity so far, changing his starting eleven only once in the last three games when he brought on Doucoure for the injured Calvert-Lewin last weekend. We again believe in the starting line-up from the recent game despite the striker’s possible recovery.
