Norwich City vs. Manchester City

The Premier League also resumes play this weekend, and Saturday night’s matchday 25 features a game in which the roles are clearly distributed. The home side from Norwich are fighting against relegation and it will be very tight for the Canaries. Man City, on the other hand, are the potential champions and would defend the title. The Citizens have only lost 2 games this season, the last defeat was months ago. They are consistently maintaining their average of 2.5 points per game and are hard to beat.

Norwich, on the other hand, have fought their way back after a disastrous start to the season and are now 18th, one point and one game down on 17th in the table. The coaching change has had an effect and whether we believe in a surprise in this encounter, find out in this Norwich – Man City tip.

– Date & Time: 12.02.2022, 18:30 hrs.
– Venue: Carrow Road (Norwich)
– Competition: Premier League, Matchday 25
– TV broadcast: Live on Sky Sport

Norwich Form & Balance Check

Norwich were determined not to be relegated again as they were in the 19/20 season, when the Canaries were relegated to the bottom of the Championship. But they managed to get back to the top immediately, and in the summer they spent a lot of money to ensure that the season would start well and that they would be able to put a competitive team on the pitch. However, the start was disastrous and after a few match days, coach Daniel Farke was dismissed. Since the change of coach, things have been a little better and Norwich are at least in the thick of the relegation battle and still have every chance of staying in the league.

Offensive lacks penetrating power

So far, it has to be said that the newcomers have not yet made a full impact. Bremen’s two newcomers, Rashica and Sargent, for example, can only sporadically fulfil their potential. Ozan Kabak from Schalke is hardly making an appearance and we had hoped for more from players like Lees-Melou and Billy Gilmour. After 23 games, they have only scored 14 goals, the lowest total in the league. Add to that the weakest defence and there is no real stability in the Canaries’ performance.

Norwich facts & analysis
– The last game ended with a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace.
– Norwich have the worst goal difference of all 20 teams
– Teemu Pukki has scored the most goals (6)

Man City Form & Balance Check

Although the Skyblues haven’t set off any fireworks in recent weeks, the points haul has been right and the games have almost all been won in commanding fashion. City have won 13 of their last 14 games, despite the departure of top striker Kun Agüero. Before the season, many were not sure whether and how Man City would cope with the departure of the Argentine, but despite the absence of a true nine-man, the reigning champions are one of the most goal-threatening teams in the league. As many as 4 players have scored 7 goals and the burden is spread across several shoulders.

Is the team too old?

The team has one superstar playing alongside the next and the footballing class is undeniable. Nevertheless, the club must slowly ask itself when a change will take place. Some of the key players are now over 30 and it is not certain how long they will be able to maintain this level. There are not too many players coming up from their own academy. Phil Foden is the only player so far who has made the breakthrough in the first team. But this “dilemma” befalls many top teams, as often the smaller risk is taken and a ready-made player is signed. We are very curious to see what the club’s philosophy will be in the future.

Man City Facts & Analysis
– 40 points from the last 14 games.
– The best defence in the league
– Last game City won 2-0 against Brentford

Predicted line-up – last update on 11 February 2022

We expect a change or two in personnel for both. For the home side, Williams will miss out due to a yellow suspension and the alternative to the Welshman is the Greek Giannoulis. Josh Sargent could start up front, as he is an extremely strong player against the ball.

Pep Guardiola is also a fan of rotation and the visitors could also make a change in one position or another. Fernandinho is an option for the six and Gündogan could also start from the beginning again. Walker at right-back is also a possibility.

Norwich – Man City direct comparison & stats

As probably to be expected, the direct comparison is very clear. Out of a total of 45 encounters, Norwich have only won 4. City, on the other hand, have walked off the field as winners 20 times more often, but there have also been 16 times where the points have been shared.

– City won the first leg 5-0.
– Norwich are unbeaten in 4 competitive matches.
– Norwich won the last home match against City with 3:2
