Bayer Leverkusen vs. VfL Bochum

On the 12th matchday of the Bundesliga, VfL Bochum want to stay on the road to success. To do so, the promoted team must travel to Werkself Leverkusen, which is in a serious results crisis. Leverkusen have not won any of their last four games and have slipped to 6th place in the Bundesliga. Now the Leverkusen team wants to flip the switch again after the international break against Bochum.

But Bochum is no walkover at the moment. The Revierclub won three of their last four games and beat Hoffenheim before the players travelled to their national teams. Coach Thomas Reis’ team will also be looking for a win in Leverkusen. Everything you need to know about this clash can be found in our Leverkusen – Bochum betting tip.

Leverkusen Form & Balance Check

Before heading into the international break, the Werkself took on Hertha in Berlin after three games without a win. But Leverkusen had no penetrating power in the capital either and were only lucky to take a point with them thanks to a standard goal in injury time. With the 1-1 draw, however, Leverkusen slipped to 6th place, allowing Leipzig and Wolfsburg to overtake them. Wolfsburg are now in 4th place, with one point more.

Wirtz returns

In some of the last games, Leverkusen had to do without eight players. Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Mitchel Bakker, Charles Aranguiz, Julian Baumgartlinger, Florian Wirtz, Karim Bellarabi, Lucas Alario and Patrik Schick were all absent. Now, however, probably the most important factor in the Werkself’s offensive game is returning. Florian Wirtz is likely to be fit in time for the clash with Bochum and will liven up the recently unimaginative attack.

Bochum Form & Balance Check

VfL Bochum once again presented themselves as a real unit before the international break. But it was not only the passion of Thomas Reis’ team that was right, but also the results. The promoted team found its way back on the road to success through teamwork and won the last two home games against Frankfurt and Hoffenheim. In addition, Bochum also won at Fürth a month ago.

Strong reaction shown

After the Revierclub won against Fürth and Frankfurt, Bochum had to play Gladbach. In Gladbach, however, there was a 2:1 defeat despite a passionate fight. Especially for promoted teams it is difficult to recover from defeats because of the already lower quality of players. But Bochum managed to do just that, winning the following match against Hoffenheim 2-0. Morale, attitude and passion are always right at the club deep in the west.

Predicted line-up – last update on 18 November 2021

Leverkusen could not perform as offensively as usual recently due to many injuries. Despite this, coach Gerardo Seoane continued to field his team in a variable 4-2-3-1 system. This idea of play allows the Werkself to act flexibly and to direct the initially centre-oriented play to the outer lanes.

Bochum recently deviated from the actual defensive tactics of coach Thomas Reis and played boldly forward. For this, the Revierclub ran in a classic 4-3-3 system, in which Bochum wants to be goal-threatening primarily through counterattacks and wing play.
