RB Leipzig vs. Borussia Mönchengladbach

The coming weekend holds exciting football in store and before Christmas can be celebrated, there are still a few games in the German professional leagues. In the Bundesliga, for example, the 15th matchday is coming up and on Saturday at 15:30 we can look forward to the match between two teams that have not been in a particularly good mood in recent weeks. The Red Bulls from Leipzig welcome the Foals from Gladbach for a crisis duel. Both teams need a win and you can read what we think about this match in our Leipzig – Gladbach betting tip.

If we take a closer look at the Bundesliga table after the first 14 games, we see that both Leipzig and Gladbach are in regions that do not live up to their own expectations. Leipzig are in 11th place with 18 points and Gladbach also have 18 points to their name. However, coach Adi Hütter’s team has a much worse goal difference and the Foals are only in 13th place. The winner of this match could make a big step up in the table.

Leipzig Form & Balance Check

It can be done, the fans of the Saxons from Leipzig will have thought. During the week, the important game in the premier league against the English champions Manchester City was on the agenda. With a win, the Saxons could have secured their ticket to the Europa League. And so it was in the end, with Leipzig winning 2-1. Szoboszlai and Silva scored the goals for the Red Bulls. Now they want to take the momentum from the top flight into the Bundesliga. With 11th place in the table, there is still plenty of room for improvement.

Does Tedesco do it?

Since the sacking of coach Jesse Marsch, there has been a lot going on at the Leipzig Red Bulls. Several names have been floated in the gazettes as successors. Finally, the choice fell on former Schalke coach Tedesco, who will now take over as coach of the Red Bulls. It will be interesting to see whether the 36-year-old manages to give the team new impetus in just a few days. In any case, the quality is there to reach the CL again.

Leipzig Facts & Analysis

 – Last win with 2:1 against City
 – Lost three games in the league
 – Tedesco new coach

Gladbach form & balance check

What the fans experienced in the first 45 minutes was unprecedented in Gladbach’s history. Coach Adi Hütten’s eleven was trailing 0:6 at half-time against Sport-Club from Freiburg and many players felt like they were in the wrong movie. Gladbach really didn’t get anything going and in the end the defeat was the logical consequence of poor defensive behaviour. Especially at corners and free kicks, Borussia defended like a school team. Four of the six goals conceded by the men from the Lower Rhine came from a ball that was not in play.

Hütter under observation

Everything is under special observation at Gladbach at the moment. Above all, coach Adi Hütter cannot afford another debacle. If there is also a heavy defeat against Leipzig, then the coach, who only arrived this season, would probably be out of a job. Nevertheless, Gladbach need not panic now. The quality in the squad is definitely there to take something against Leipzig. The most important thing will be that the team doesn’t completely fall apart again in the event of a deficit.

Gladbach Facts & Analysis

 – Last lost with 0:6 against Freiburg
 – Slipped down to 13th place
 – Hütter is under pressure

Predicted line-up – last update on 9 December 2021

The Saxons from Leipzig want to go with a classic 4-3-3 into the next match against Gladbach. Silva, Nkunku and Szoboszlai want to provide the necessary danger in the offensive again. Nkunku in particular is one of Leipzig’s best players this season. Gladbach will not change their line-up much and coach Hütter is likely to send the same eleven as in the 0:6 on the pitch, which can thus make amends.

Leipzig – Gladbach direct comparison & Statistics
