TSG Hoffenheim vs. SC Freiburg

Due to the international matches during the week, there are once again three Sunday matches in the Bundesliga this coming weekend. The last of these will not kick off until 7:30pm, thus concluding Matchday 7, with SC Freiburg having to play TSG Hoffenheim at the PreZero Arena. Both teams have made an excellent start to the season and will now meet in an exciting test of their strength. Our prediction for the match can be found in the following Hoffenheim vs Freiburg tip.

TSG have collected twelve points from their first six games and are in fourth place in the table. First place is currently only two points away, and Hoffenheim is currently level on points with the two top teams from Munich and Dortmund. Freiburg, on the other hand, have one point more on their account, which puts them in second place. In the event of a defeat in Sinsheim, however, SCF would have to let TSG pass them.

Hoffenheim Form & Balance Check

TsG Hoffenheim have made an excellent start to the season under Andre Breitenreiter. The coach had returned to the Bundesliga in the summer after the Swiss championship with FC Zurich and has been able to score with good results in Sinsheim so far. Even though there is still room for improvement in some areas, five wins from the first seven competitive matches speak for themselves. The only two defeats came against the strong teams from Mönchengladbach (1:3) and Dortmund (0:1).

TSG with a commanding victory against ten Mainzers

Newcomers such as Ozan Kabak and Grischa Prömel fitted in excellently with Breitenreiter’s 3-5-2 system, which was also practised in a similar way by his predecessor Sebastian Hoeneß. Perhaps that is why TSG hardly needed any start-up time under the new coach. In the last league match, Hoffenheim scored another commanding victory against Mainz, 4:1 on the scoreboard. Of course, TSG benefited from their long period of superiority after Hack had seen the red card. Kramaric, Prömel, Dabbur and Kaderabek were responsible for the goals.

Hoffenheim facts & analysis

– 4th place in the Bundesliga, 12 points from 6 games.
– Last win 4:1 against Mainz
– 5th win in 7th competitive game under Breitenreiter

Freiburg form & balance check

SC Freiburg continue their fairytale development. In their twelfth season under Christian Streich, the chronic underdogs from Breisgau have seemingly established themselves as European Cup contenders. In the first weeks of the season, the SCF successfully played in both the Europa League and the Bundesliga, winning seven of their first nine competitive matches. So far, Freiburg, like Hoffenheim, have only conceded points against Dortmund (1:3) and most recently Gladbach (0:0). In the cup competitions, on the other hand, the start has been perfect.

Scraped Freiburg also win in Piraeus

In the DFB Cup, Freiburg fought their way through to the next round with a 2-1 win at Kaiserslautern in their first competitive match of the season. In the Europa League, Freiburg also won 2-1 against Azerbaijani representative Qarabag Agdam a week ago, and last Thursday they faced their first real international test in the cauldron of Olympiakos Piraeus. But Freiburg also mastered this one with flying colours, a goal from Höfler and a brace from Gregoritsch ensured an unchallenged and relaxed 3:0 victory.

Freiburg facts & analysis

– 2nd place in the Bundesliga, 13 points from 6 games.
– Last win 3:0 in Piraeus
– Away with 5 wins from 5 competitive matches

Predicted line-up – last update on 16 September 2022

There is currently only a question mark behind two positions in Hoffenheim’s starting eleven. On the one hand, Akpoguma and Nsoki are fighting for the left place in central defence, and Skov is also injured and therefore questionable. Should he not be able to play, Angelino will move to the left. Bebou, Hübner, Pentke and Bicakcic are missing due to injury.

On the other hand, Christian Streich could do without a larger rotation before the international break. Kübler, Keitel and Jeong are alternatives to Sildillia, Eggestein and Kyereh. In addition, the injured Doan could be absent, and Schade could make his comeback as a substitute. The injured Sallai and Ezekwem are missing, Höler is also not yet a candidate for the squad.
