Eintracht Frankfurt vs. RB Leipzig

The Bundesliga enters its 10th matchday this weekend and for Frankfurt’s Eintracht, the home game against RB Leipzig is on the agenda there on Saturday evening. Kick-off is at Deutsche Bank Park at the top of the hour at 18:30.

For the hosts, games at this kick-off time have not been a good omen at all in recent years. The last win came on Saturday at 18:30 in 2016 against 1. FC Köln (1:0). Three draws and nine defeats followed. In our Frankfurt vs. Leipzig betting tips, we now tell you whether we expect this series to continue and what other predictions we would make for this match.

Frankfurt -Leipzig Tip

The starting situation is quite different. While Frankfurt have lost two games in a row for the first time since May 2020, things are finally looking up for the visitors from Leipzig. They have not lost any of their last five matches and want to continue their run with an away win in Frankfurt. However, the away team has never been able to prevail in this pairing and we can be curious to see whether this will change on Saturday evening. Leipzig could climb to fourth with a win, while the SGE could jump to twelfth place.

Frankfurt Form & Balance Check

Whoever takes a look at Eintracht’s results so far will hardly believe their eyes. The SGE has only managed one win in the course of the season so far – and that was away at record champions FC Bayern, of all teams, with a score of 1:2. Apart from that, there were five draws in a row between Matchday 2 and Matchday 5, as well as three defeats on Matchday 1 in Dortmund (5:2) and on the last two matchdays against Hertha BSC (1:2) and at VfL Bochum (2:0). For the first time since May 2020, Eintracht Frankfurt thus conceded two Bundesliga defeats in a row. The only eight points after nine matchdays is also the worst SGE record in 16 years.

SGE with far too few goals

Coach Oliver Glasner said about the season so far: “The enormous fluctuations in performance are surprising for all of us. (…) The boys sometimes even want too much, put too much pressure on themselves. We got to the bottom of that.” It sounds as if the Eagles have forged a plan internally as to how they want to play more successfully again in the coming weeks. In any case, the problem is primarily on the offensive side. In the first nine games, Frankfurt scored just nine goals, and in the duels with relegation candidates Augsburg, Bielefeld and Bochum, a total of only one. The newly formed offensive would be well advised to slowly but surely get the horsepower on the road.

Frankfurt facts & analysis
 – 8 points from 9 games
 – Last lost 2:0 in Bochum
 – Worst SGE record after 9 games in 16 years
 – Last 4 games in a row not lost against Leipzig

Leipzig form & balance check

For the guests from Leipzig, on the other hand, the world seems to be halfway back in order. After only one win from the first five games, RB has recently won three of four encounters in the Bundesliga. In retrospect, however, it must also be said that, given RB Leipzig’s aspirations, these were must-wins. The home victories came against the two promoted teams from Bochum (3:0) and Fürth (4:1), as well as against the previously struggling capital club Hertha BSC (6:0). And although the results all sound sovereign, the Saxons had long had problems in the duels with the promoted teams.

RB with weak away face

The 3-0 lead against Bochum took until the 69th minute and against Greuther Fürth RB had to fall behind (45.+2) before Yusuff Poulsen & Co. started scoring in the second half. The result in the cup (0:1 at regional league team Babelsberg) did not exactly boost self-confidence. It was further proof that Leipzig still have major problems away from home. In the Bundesliga, only two points have been earned in four away games so far. Against a team like Eintracht Frankfurt, which is usually strong at home, there could therefore be problems again on Saturday.

Leipzig facts & analysis
 – 14 points from 9 games
 – Last win 4:1 against Fürth
 – Only 2/12 points away from home
 – Kevin Kampl is set to make his 100th Bundesliga appearance for RB Leipzig

Predicted line-up – last update on 28 October 2021

There are a few positions open at Eintracht. Instead of N’Dicka, Hasebe could also play. The same applies to the right wing, where either Durm or Touré will be used. In the offensive we expect the trio Kamada, Borré and Lammers. But there are also alternatives in Hauge and Lindström. Pacienca and Lenz are missing for the time being. Barkok returns to the squad after overcoming a knee injury.

There are also a few question marks on the Leipzig side. In midfield, Laimer, Adams, Haidara and Kampl are fighting for two positions. In attack, as so often in recent weeks, there is a duel between Poulsen and Silva. Injured are the defensive forces Halstenberg and Klostermann.

Frankfurt -Leipzig direct comparison & Statistics

The direct comparison is completely balanced at the moment. Both clubs have won three of their matches, while five have ended in a draw. Most recently, there were two 1-1 draws in a row. Leipzig’s last win came in August 2019 (2:1). Since then, Eintracht have remained unbeaten in four consecutive meetings.
