Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Hertha BSC

After the end of the international break, we finally get to enjoy the Bundesliga again this weekend. Included in Saturday’s conference at 3:30 pm is the match between Eintracht Frankfurt and Hertha BSC, whose opponents went into the break with different feelings despite their current proximity in the standings. While Eintracht have been going from strength to strength recently, Hertha are yet to really get going this season. In our Frankfurt vs Hertha tip, you can find out what we expect from this match.

Frankfurt are currently 13th in the Bundesliga with eight points. After seven games, the Adler have already drawn five times and are still a long way from last season’s international ranking. Hertha follow in 14th place with two points less and have lost a whole five games so far, the negative trend of the pre-season seems to continue. So there is a lot at stake for both teams, with Frankfurt and Berlin desperate to climb a few places after the international break.

Frankfurt Form & Balance Check

Frankfurt have made a curious start to the new season under new coach Oliver Glasner. First, Eintracht went down in the cup in Mannheim and then lost the league opener at BVB. But then came six draws in a row, five of which ended 1-1. In the last two games, the Eagles then scored their first victories of the season against Antwerp and Bayern. The SGE is now unbeaten in eight games, and the form curve is finally showing an upward trend after two wins in a row.

Win against Bayern as can opener?

The recent win against record champions Bayern Munich in particular should have built up new self-confidence. In a system based on counterattacks with a three-man backline, Eintracht inflicted their first defeat of the season on the Munich side. The Eagles had two match-winners to thank afterwards. Kevin Trapp put in a flawless performance in the Frankfurt box and made the Bavarian attackers despair time and again. The pardoned Filip Kostic was also the key offensive factor and, in addition to his winning goal to make it 2-1, also set up Hinteregger’s intermediate equaliser.

Frankfurt facts & analysis
 – 8 points from 7 league games
 – Last win 2:1 against Bayern
 – 8 games in a row unbeaten

Hertha form & balance check

The visitors from Berlin are still in a crisis mood after a messed-up start to the season. After the close cup win at Meppen, Hertha lost the first four games of the season in the Bundesliga. Then came a brief upswing with two wins against promoted teams Bochum and Fürth, only to be followed by two more defeats. The most recent defeat was a 6-0 loss in Leipzig, followed by a 2-1 loss at home to Freiburg before the international break.

CEO Schmidt resigns from office

To make matters worse, the next blow for the crisis-ridden capital club followed. For with Carsten Schmidt, a new CEO was brought in a good ten months ago, who was supposed to steer the club’s development in the other direction again. But long before this process begins to bear fruit, the 58-year-old hopeful has to abandon the project again. Due to private reasons, he resigned from his position at Hertha on Tuesday and his duties will now be taken over by the two managing directors Fredi Bobic and Ingo Schiller for the time being. What influence this will have on the future of the club remains to be seen.

Hertha Facts & Analysis
 – 6 points from 7 league games.
 – Last lost 1:2 against Freiburg
 – Already lost 5 games

Predicted line-up – last update on 14 October 2021

Frankfurt can once again rely on a three-man chain. Tuta, Hauge, Lindström, Kamada and Lenz (if fit) are alternatives for the starting eleven. Borre will probably not be in the squad due to his enormously late return from the international break. Hertha coach Pal Dardai was still looking for the right combination. Due to the many injured centre-backs, the Berliners could go back to a four-man defence. In that case, Pekarik should defend on the right and the recovered captain Boyata should return. On the six Darida and Ascasibar are alternatives for Boateng, offensively Ekkelenkamp, Piatek or Belfodil could also slide in.
