Brentford Form & Balance Check

So far, Brentford’s Premier League debut is going really smashingly. Even though they lost the game against Brighton on Sunday night, the team can still be proud of what they have achieved so far. 20 points and 13th place is still an excellent position and the points average is over 1.0 per game. Especially defensively the team is quite solid and with 24 goals conceded Brentford is in the midfield in the defensive table.

The next few weeks will be crucial

The next few weeks will see Brentford play top teams time and time again and it will be important that they don’t let potential defeats unsettle them. So far, they have been strong against the league’s big sides, beating Arsenal at home and picking up a point against Liverpool. But the important games are the ones that follow, when they face Crystal Palace, Newcastle, Norwich and Burnley in February and early March. If they take 7-8 points from those encounters, we’re sure, they’ll stay in the class.

 – They have already lost four times at home
 – Brentford have played to nil four times this season

Man City form & balance check

The Skyblues are once again playing a superb season and are well on their way to celebrating a 4th championship in 5 years. Despite the departure of top striker Agüero, the Citizens have had no problems scoring goals so far. In the last 3 games, the team has scored a total of 17 goals, an unfathomable figure. With 47 points from 19 games, they are marching ahead, with only Liverpool and Chelsea keeping pace. However, Pep Guardiola’s team looks so solid at the moment that we rate City as the top favourites for the title.

Sterling thrives again

One of the top performers in recent weeks has been Raheem Sterling. The England international has already convinced at the European Championship and recently flirted with a departure. But after frequently coming off the bench and having a small crisis during that time, the winger looks transformed. He has always scored at least once in the last 4 games and even scored a brace against Leicester at the weekend. We are curious to see whether the 28-year-old continues to flirt with a departure or whether he is now experiencing his second spring with the Skyblues.

Man City facts & analysis
 – They won 6-3 against Leicester on Sunday.
 – Away from home, City have conceded the fewest goals of any team
 – Man City have the best goal difference in the league (+38)

Predicted line-up – last update on 27 December 2021

Despite the defeat against Brighton, we don’t expect the hosts to make any changes in terms of personnel, as the team itself is well-rehearsed. They will again start with a three-man backline and focus on defending. For City, rotation in a few positions is possible as Guardiola has many fantastic players at his disposal. Alternatives for Sunday are Foden and Jesus up front. In return, Silva and Mahrez would sit on the bench.
