Bayern had a difficult but successful opening game in Wolfsburg. Jamal Musiala gave Munich the lead in the 20th minute, but shortly after half-time Wolfsburg’s Lovro Majer scored a brace, which immediately presented new coach Kompany with a difficult coaching task.
The defense did not always look good against the nimble Wolves and only a somewhat fortunate own goal by Wolfsburg brought the record champions back into the game, who ultimately recorded a 3:2 victory. New Gnabry?
Bayern haven’t changed much in terms of personnel this summer. Although the departure of Kingsley Coman is imminent, there is already a replacement for him in Michael Olise. Serge Gnabry, who was somewhat hampered by injuries last season, is back in full form, having started both of Bayern’s competitive matches and scoring the all-important 3-2 winner for his team in Wolfsburg.
Gnabry was not included in the national team’s European Championship squad last year, partly due to the small number of games he played. He needs to regain his old strength under the new coach, because then he will be a powerful weapon for Bayern.

Freiburg Form & Balance Check
Freiburg were convincing in their opening game against runners-up Stuttgart. In true Breisgau style, the team quickly overcame the early deficit and equalized the score before half-time. In the second half, Freiburg were simply the better team and made the most of their chances.
The 3:1 victory confirms the performance in the very solid cup match, in which SC gave third-division club VfL Osnabrück no chance and advanced to the second round with a clear 4:0 victory. Lukas Kübler’s role on the wing is to prevent the opposition from getting crosses or shots on goal. The Freiburg full-back, who is already in his ninth season in the Breisgau kit, had an evening against Stuttgart that he will not forget in a hurry.
With two goals, he was the man of the match, equaling his personal record for goals per season in just one game. This should also secure him a regular place on the right side of the back four for the time being compared to youngster Bruno Ogbus, who was still in the starting eleven in the cup

The Munich team play with a 4-2-3-1 system. In defense, Eric Dier could move into the starting eleven for Min-Jae Kim, who has been prone to errors recently. We expect Joshua Kimmich to return in the number six position. In attack, Gnabry and Olise will come in on the wings, while Harry Kane is the central striker. Thomas Müller and Mathys Tel are options from the bench.
