Tennis Today – Matches from September 7

Tsitsipas’s Cinderella story is over, Alcaraz is playing like a tennis god again, and Zverev finally had a shorter match. My US Open tips now focus on how the story unfolds! Who will claim the coveted title at Flushing Meadows?

However, I don’t just have the four men’s round of 16 matchups on my list. Two women’s matches have also made it onto my shortlist of games I’m considering for tennis bets with a reputable bookmaker.

Tennis Picks Today – September 7, 2026: The Round of 16 Begins!

Anyone interested in the future of tennis who’d like to spread a sports betting bonus across several thrilling matches shouldn’t miss my US Open picks today.

After all, with Blockx, Tien, and Gea, a young generation is on the court looking to join forces with greats like Sinner and Alcaraz in the long run. Which of them will manage to step further into the spotlight?

As usual, I’ve evaluated these matches individually and noted one US Open bet per bookmaker that I would place exactly as described.

US Open Picks Today, Sept. 7: Cerundolo – Blockx (7:00 p.m.)

The 24th-seeded South American pulled off a tennis miracle at Arthur Ashe Stadium: Against Taylor Fritz, he sensationally turned around a seemingly lost match after falling behind 0–2 in sets.

Francisco Cerundolo is, in a sense, like a surprise package. He can completely lose his rhythm for two sets, only to suddenly turn the entire match on its head out of nowhere with sensational angle precision and brutal laser-like forehands.

Anyone facing the Argentine can’t feel safe at any point. Especially for a younger player like Alexander Blockx, who isn’t yet familiar with the pressure of the later rounds of a Grand Slam tournament, he shouldn’t feel safe for a single moment today.

Given the odds, it makes more sense to go with a bold 5-set bet here. After all, the likelihood of a rollercoaster of emotions with breaks and re-breaks is high!

My tip: Could easily go to 5 sets!

US Open betting tonight: Khachanov – Tien (10:00 p.m.)

Karen Khachanov brings significantly more experience at this level than rookie Tien, which is why he’s definitely capable of winning this match. However, considering the current form of both players, Tien has a slight edge.

Although the American hasn’t been able to consistently perform at his best recently either, his record over the past few months is clearly more positive. Compared to Khachanov, Tien has posted more convincing results and should therefore go into the match with greater confidence.

My pick: Here, too, three sets might not be enough!

US Open today: Gea – van de Zandschulp (10:30 p.m.)

An extremely fascinating duel for a spot in the quarterfinals. Arthur Gea plays with ease, executing his baseline shots without much pressure and cleverly varying his slice shots.

Botic van de Zandschulp, however, brings significantly more Grand Slam experience to the table. His vicious backhand slices and flat first serve work exceptionally well on the fast Laykold surface.

Still, I’m a bit surprised to see the Dutchman in the round of 16. He’s not usually known for deep runs, and I just don’t feel comfortable with his odds as the favorite on the betting markets.

My pick: I’d rather consider an underdog bet!

US Open Prediction Tonight: Zverev – Darderi (2:30 a.m.)

The last clash on clay in Rome was decided in the third set in May by the spirited Italian Luciano Darderi, after Alexander Zverev had held the upper hand in Rome in 2024.

On the extremely fast Laykold hard court, Zverev’s serve is the strongest weapon in the entire draw. Darderi, meanwhile, will try to put heavy spin on the ball and force it deep into Zverev’s backhand to force long rallies.

However, since the German hasn’t had many easy matches in this tournament so far and struggled against the world No. 22 and his tenacity just a few months ago, I think the underdog is capable of winning at least one set.

My pick: Zverev will hit another slump!

US Open Betting Today, Sept. 7: Osaka – Rybakina (8:30 p.m.)

Just a few weeks ago, Naomi Osaka and Elena Rybakina battled it out in an epic three-set thriller in the quarterfinals of the Canadian Open, with the Kazakhstani coming out on top after trailing a set.

Two-time US Open champion Osaka has fought her way through the tournament in New York with tremendous tenacity so far. Her serve is once again a real weapon, but her path to the round of 16 took a huge physical toll—especially during her dramatic three-set victory over Elise Mertens.

Both players will once again push forward relentlessly today, looking for the decisive winner right after their first serve. Still, I think Rybakina is in slightly better form…

My pick: Rybakina with a razor-thin lead!

US Open Picks Tonight: Swiatek – Zheng (5:30 p.m.)

This is the ultimate showdown between surgical baseline precision and brutal serve power. Qinwen Zheng needs a perfect first-serve percentage to prevent Iga Swiatek from even getting into rallies on the return.

However, once the ball is in play, Swiatek tightens the noose. The Polish player anticipates Zheng’s heavy topspin shots on hard court exceptionally well, meeting the ball extremely early in its ascent and forcing the Chinese player to constantly change direction on her backhand side.

On hard courts, Swiatek simply has the perfect counter to Zheng’s rhythm.

My prediction: Swiatek will most likely win in straight sets!
