Australian Open today – Matches on January 21.
Watching the Australian Open today will be interesting. The first second-round matches in the men’s competition are on the schedule, and I will be covering both matches involving German players.
As usual, I will be providing you with expert tips, which this time will also take into account the performances in the first round. With a Winamax freebet, you can use these tips directly or adapt them to suit your own preferences.
Australian Open today – January 21, 2026
The Australian Open today and tomorrow will focus solely on second-round matches, which are worth taking a closer look at from a German perspective. Alexander Zverev should be able to qualify for the hot phase.
For Yannick Hanfmann, on the other hand, I see little chance of a surprise. A victory against Carlos Alcaraz would undoubtedly be the greatest success of his career – but I don’t think this scenario is realistic.
I’m also keeping an eye on Daniil Medvedev. After his clear three-set victory in the first round, there is every reason to believe that he will also advance against Quentin Halys without losing a set.
Australian Open broadcast today: Where can I watch the matches on January 21?
If you want to watch the 2026 Australian Open live today, you have several options. Eurosport will broadcast selected matches on free-to-air television.
Alternatively, tennis fans can use streaming services. With a DAZN subscription, Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2 can also be streamed online – ideal for those who want to remain flexible.
There are also paid platforms that offer comprehensive coverage. All matches of the tournament are available in full length via discovery+ and the Eurosport Player, which is integrated into HBO Max, among others.
Australian Open today, January 21: Medvedev – Halys (2:10 a.m.)
Medvedev seems much more stable than in recent years and appears to be approaching 2026 with renewed confidence. He is once again absolutely reliable on hard courts, even though Halys will try to hold his own with his strong serve.
All in all, I think there are many reasons to believe that Medvedev will win comfortably. Especially since the Russian already clearly defeated a really tricky first-round opponent in De Jong (3-0).
My expert tip: Round one was more challenging for Medvedev …
Australian Open today, January 21: Zverev – Muller (8:30 a.m.)
Zverev committed almost as many unforced errors in the first set (12) of the first round as he did in the other three sets (13) combined. In the end, after a brief moment of shock, it was still enough for a confident 3-1 victory over Diallo.
I even see the German advancing to the third round tonight, but it won’t be a walk in the park. Mueller beat Zverev in Hamburg in May 2025 and is going into this match with even more confidence thanks to his surprise 5-set victory over Popyrin.
My expert tip: Zverev could take longer …
Australian Open today 01/21: Tiafoe – Comesana (10:10 a.m.)
Comesana has recently shown that he can also be a tough opponent on hard courts and raise his level against stronger opponents. That’s exactly why Tiafoe can’t afford to be careless here.
However, the American seems stable enough to me at the start of the 2026 season, which is why he should be able to control this match and ultimately win it.
My expert tip: It will still be a close match!
Australian Open today, January 21: Cerundolo – Dzumhur (1:00 a.m.)
Cerundolo has already won this duel twice, even during a phase when his form was anything but stable. In matches against Dzumhur, he seems to be very comfortable with the Bosnian’s playing style.
Even though Cerundolo has not been consistently convincing lately, he remains the more reliable player in this matchup and should therefore be able to prevail again.
My expert tip: Even a 3-0 win for the Argentine is possible
Australian Open today, January 21: Alcaraz – Hanfmann (4:00 a.m.)
Of course, we would like to see the Karlsruhe native win, but no bookmaker, old or new, is deviating from Alcaraz’s odds of 1.01 on average – and in my neutral assessment, that is absolutely understandable.
The Spaniard had already beaten Hanfmann without losing a set when he was not even of legal age. The world number 101 showed his true fighting spirit against Svajda, but anything other than a 3-0 win for Alcaraz would be a huge surprise.
My expert tip: Alcaraz without any trouble!
