Belgian Grand Prix in Spa, Sunday, July 27, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.
After a three-week break, Formula 1 is back. A lot has happened away from the track. One bombshell was the sacking of long-time Red Bull team boss Christian Horner, who had held the position since the team was founded in 2005.
But the dominant racing team of recent years is in a sporting crisis. Max Verstappen has virtually no chance of winning the title, and the car is so bad that the team’s second driver is practically never able to finish in the points.
For the Belgian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen is now at least ranked third behind the two McLaren drivers.
Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are likely to be the ones battling it out for victory once again. The team with the orange racer is too consistent, and Norris is now back on top after emerging from his slump.
Nevertheless, many more mental hurdles await the man who has not always had his nerves under control this season and last season. That’s why the ice-cold Piastri is slightly ahead in some of the betting odds.
I don’t want to commit to either winner, but I think Bet365’s 1.37 for a McLaren victory is pretty hot. Especially since this offer is free of betting taxes.
At Bet365, you not only get a great selection of Formula 1 bets, but also a fantastic new customer bonus and tax-free odds.

That’s why I finally chose odds from Bet365 for my Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix tip. Namely, that Piastri will finish the race in the top two. I don’t see any other team that can get in between them.
It doesn’t matter to me whether it rains or not. McLaren was even stronger on a wet track. Just remember the Australian Grand Prix and most recently at Silverstone. A well-set-up car really shows its strength in adverse conditions…
But now I have to talk about the sensation of the day. Nico Hülkenberg finished on the podium for the first time in his 239th race, and in a Sauber that was considered by far the worst car in testing.
He started from 19th place in Silverstone in his bright green racer and made up place after place in the changeable weather conditions. In the end, he was finally able to pass the record for the most races without a podium finish to his compatriot Adrian Sutil.
Yes, it was chaotic, but in the end it was the fourth Grand Prix in a row that he finished in the points. The updates are paying off and “Hulk” now feels comfortable with his new car.
So I’m surprised that the sports betting apps are still giving the Emmerich native fairly high odds of finishing in the points at 1.85. Especially since the weather is supposed to be rainy again, which plays into his hands.
Remember, it rained heavily in Melbourne too, and Hülkenberg maneuvered his completely inferior car to seventh place.
Depending on the starting position and the actual weather conditions, it might be worth considering the 8.25 for a place in the top 6. We can get that at Betano, among others, where we receive a $20 free bet after registering, even before making our first deposit.
A bet that has been going really well since the start of the season is for under 18.5 or even 17.5 drivers finishing the race. Due to the weather forecast, the odds are not quite as high this time, but 1.69 for at least three retirements is still lucrative.
Spa is already a complicated track. Wet and fairly cool conditions for the race, around 15 degrees Celsius, make it even more difficult to get the tires up to temperature and build grip. On top of that, we still have a handful of rookies in the field.
However, with this selection, I would definitely wait until the start.
The last 5 races at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps:
In keeping with this, I can recommend the safety car bet, which is scratching the 1.50 mark. Especially on a high-speed track like Spa, race control is cautious when it comes to incidents.
At the same time, I don’t expect to see a virtual and a real safety car, i.e. both variants, on Sunday. Since the average speed is high here, we’re likely to see Bernd Mayländer on the track in practically every incident.
That’s why I would go for “No” in this Interwetten market. The 1.37 odds aren’t high, but they’re particularly suitable for combination bets.
In keeping with the wide range of Formula 1 bets for the Belgian Grand Prix, Interwetten also offers a wide variety of payment methods, including Paysafecard.
Since the McLaren pursuers are mostly going back and forth, I’m cautious about podium bets. The 1.50 for Russell in the top 6 caught my eye. Behind McLaren come Ferrari, Mercedes, and Verstappen.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda has recently failed to score points in five consecutive races. Like Verstappen’s teammates before him, he is sinking into a negative spiral. And Russell is consistently outperforming Andrea Kimi Antonelli, with the race duel standing at 11:0!
This means that even if Verstappen and both McLaren and Ferrari drivers finish ahead of Russell, he would still be in the top 6. And the Scuderia in particular is still very inconsistent in its performance, with Verstappen also frequently struggling with his Red Bull.
On top of that, Russell was the first to cross the finish line here last year. The subsequent disqualification was a team error, not a driver error. Spa obviously suits him.
Conclusion: Yes, in Formula 1, there are many good bets to be made for practically every Grand Prix. Hülkenberg in the top 10 and Russell in the top 6 are two very hot picks for me.
In the end, however, I think Piastri in first or second place is the best choice. McLaren is really strong in the rain, and the Australian is consistent.
He celebrated his first sprint victory here in his first year in F1. Last year, he was also better than Norris in the main race.
That’s why my betting tip is: Piastri in the top 2
