Bayern Munich – FC St. Pauli
With six points to make up on league leaders Leverkusen, Bayern Munich host FC St. Pauli at the Allianz Arena on Saturday as they remain in the thick of the title race. Vincent Kompany’s team recently dropped important points in a 1-1 draw with Union Berlin, but Munich remain determined to assert themselves in the title race. Alexander Blessin’s Kiezkicker, on the other hand, gained some breathing space in the relegation battle with their 1-0 win over Hoffenheim and are now five points clear of the relegation spot. In the last meeting in November, Bayern managed a narrow 1-0 victory – now the roles should be clearly distributed again, although St. Pauli is hoping for an upset.

Bayern Form & Balance Check
FC Bayern Munich have been inconsistent in the Bundesliga recently. They have won three, drawn one and lost one of their last five games, with the 3-2 home defeat to Bochum being viewed particularly critically. Internationally, however, the record champions impressed with commanding performances against Bayer Leverkusen (3-0 and 2-0). Harry Kane’s offense remains reliable, but the defense repeatedly reveals gaps. In addition, important players are missing: Manuel Neuer continues to suffer from his injury, Alphonso Davies is injured, and Jonas Urbig has to help out in goal. Nevertheless, Bayern are confidently going into the clash with St. Pauli, determined not to leave any more points on the table in the league.
For the clash against St. Pauli, FC Bayern Munich are expected to line up in the usual 4-2-3-1 system. Daniel Peretz is likely to replace the injured Manuel Neuer between the posts. Other regulars are missing from the defense, such as Min-jae Kim, so Stanišić, Upamecano, Dier and Davies are likely to form the back four. In midfield, coach Kompany is likely to start with the duo Kimmich and Goretzka, while Musiala, Olise and Gnabry will be the attacking trio behind Harry Kane. With the experienced players Sané, Müller and Palhinha, there are also high-quality alternatives available. Aleksandar Pavlovic is out due to illness, as is Kingsley Coman, who is out with an injury.
St. Pauli Form & Record Check
The situation is much more tense for FC St. Pauli, who are in the relegation battle. In the last five league games, the Hamburg team only managed to get four points, including an important 1-0 win over Hoffenheim. Before that, it suffered clear defeats against Dortmund (0:2), Mainz (0:2) and Freiburg (0:1). Offensively, it is stalling, with only two goals scored in this period. Interestingly, the team defends solidly in the first half, but then often collapses after the break. However, the returnees Connor Metcalfe and Robert Wagner, who have recently been gaining playing time again, are raising hopes. Top scorer Morgan Guilavogui is also working on his comeback after his scaphoid fracture.
St. Pauli will probably play the difficult trip to Munich in the usual 3-4-1-2 system. In defense, Alexander Blessin lacks alternatives as Karol Mets and James Sands are unavailable. In goal, Nikola Voll continues to get the nod. Nemeth, Wahl and Van der Heyden are likely to form the back three, with Irvine, Smith, Boukhalfa and another midfielder likely to play in front of them. Danel Sinani could play as a deep striker behind Elias Saad and Johannes Weißhaupt. Morgan Guilavogui is not yet ready to play, but is working on his return. At least Connor Metcalfe and Robert Wagner are back in the squad after recovering from injuries.
Bayern – St. Pauli head to head & statistics
In the last three direct duels, St. Pauli came away empty-handed, with Bayern last winning 1-0 at the Millerntor in November 2024. In particular, the clear 8-1 demolition of 2011 remains in the memory of many fans, as does the 3-0 victory for Munich in 2010. It is striking that the record champions have often taken the lead before half-time and that St. Pauli have not scored a goal in any of these games. The encounters illustrate the dominance of Bayern in this pairing, but especially in the relegation battle, some teams have unexpectedly managed to score points – which is why St. Pauli is potentially working towards a sensation.
