Inter form & record check
The Nerazzurri have only one goal this season as reigning champions. They want to defend the title. So far, they have started this season with very good results and are in fantastic form for the highlight of the season so far against Naples. They have four wins and only one draw against Juventus Turin from their last five league games.
They have now gone six Serie A games unbeaten, but it is not only at domestic level that Simone Inzaghi’s team seem to be clicking, with the Milan side currently sitting in second place. In the Champions League, they remain unbeaten in four games and followed up their midweek 1-0 home win over Arsenal with a narrow 1-0 win at home to Arsenal in the midweek.
Offensive Power
Inter Milan can once again rely on a strong offense this season. The Nerazzurri have already scored 25 goals in their current eleven league games and, after Atalanta Bergamo, who have already scored 29 goals, have the best offense in the league. One reason for this is the double strike force, consisting of Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martínez, who seem to be working particularly well together again.
While the Argentine has scored five times in ten appearances, Thuram has already scored seven times in his eleven appearances. And that’s without converting a penalty. If the two strikers score again against Napoli, it could be a very good evening for them.
Inter facts & analysis
- Second place in the table
- One point behind SSC
- Last league game won 1-0 against Venezia
Naples form & record check
After a difficult last season, SSC is currently back on track for the 2022/23 championship season. After losing the opening game against Hellas Verona 0-3, they started a remarkable streak, winning eight of their next nine games and drawing against Juve.
Last weekend, however, they suffered a major setback in the title race when they were thrashed 3-0 by third-placed Bergamo at home. This did not affect their position in the table, but the gap to Inter Milan was reduced to just one point, which means that Napoli could lose their lead this weekend.
Remarkable away record
Napoli have been particularly impressive on foreign turf this season. As already described, they lost their first league game in mid-August away to Verona 0-3, but these three goals conceded should remain the only goals conceded by Antonio Conte’s team away from home. In the four away games that followed, SSC always kept a clean sheet, picking up three wins and a draw with a goal difference of 7-0.
Overall, the visitors kept a clean sheet in seven of their 11 league games and, with eight goals conceded, have the second-best defense in the league. Only Juve are even more stable with seven goals conceded.
Naples facts & analysis
- Serie A league leaders
- Eight goals conceded in eleven games
- Last game lost 0:3 against Atalanta Bergamo
The Nerazzurri will return to the tried and tested 3-5-2 formation next weekend. Coach Simone Inzaghi will start with Thuram in the center forward position again and will initially leave Taremi on the bench. Due to the load management, Dimarco could start on the left wing for Darmian and Barella could play in the center for Frattesi.
SSC Napoli will likely start in a classic 4-3-3 formation that is slightly more offensive. It is quite possible that Antonio Conte wants to make some new changes due to the 3-0 defeat to Bergamo. Simeone and Raspadori are two individually strong options for the offense and Spinazzola is available for the left wing.
