Wimbledon today – Matches from 08.07.
The second round of 16 at Wimbledon has it all, top sport to start the week! German tennis fans can look forward first and foremost to Alexander Zverev’s match, who will face Taylor Fritz for the third time in London and the tenth duel against the American.
Another treat will be the match between Holger Rune and Novak Djokovic, I’m sure of that. The Dane has already made life difficult for Djokovic on several occasions, triumphing twice against the most successful man in the sport. This will be extremely interesting
But the other two duels of the day are also anything but clear-cut affairs. Arthur Fils is one of France’s great tennis hopes, he has already beaten Hubert Hurkacz, among others, and now he meets Australia’s number one, Alex De Minaur.

After Germany’s elimination from Euro 2024, Zverev could be the big consolation. Although he is only ranked fourth behind the top trio of Djokovic, Alcaraz and Sinner, he has not dropped a set at Wimbledon in the first few days and is serving consistently.
He has already beaten Fritz twice at Wimbledon and even in his current top form I think he can beat the American. He has only lost one round and won the tournament in Eastbourne before Wimbledon. Overall, however, he is weaker than Zverev in almost all areas.
The German has the better rate of first serves and this year’s French Open finalist has more to offer on defense in particular. I expect Djokovic to have longer rallies against Rune, who have already had some epic tennis matches.

On clay, Fils has beaten De Minaur this year and in two sets. But De Minaur is a man of fast courts, especially on hard court he has already annoyed the top stars this year, beating Djokovic and Zverev.
But Fils also has nothing to hide with his recent results, he was particularly convincing against Hurkacz. He reached the quarter-finals in Halle, where he at least managed to take a set off Zverev. I expect different phases in this matchup. Slight freshness advantage for De Minaur!

Zverev is currently playing his best grass court tennis and looks more relaxed than ever off the court. Will he fulfill his big Grand Slam dream on the grass? First of all, he has to assert himself in a duel between the top servers. The second-best player meets the fourth-best server.
He is still unbeaten against Fritz on grass, has the clearly better rate of first serves and is regarded as a safe return player. Fritz is likely to come under pressure more often than Zverev. In their only duel this year, Zverev won clearly in two sets.

Tennis betting today 08.07.: Musetti vs. Mpetshi Perricard (12:00 pm)
Mpetshi Perricard is one of the 2024 high-flyers. With 41 wins from 56 matches, he has moved up to world number 58. At Wimbledon, however, he entered the field as a lucky loser. He was defeated by Maxime Janvier in his final qualifying match.
In the main draw, he finally beat Sebastian Korda, Yoshihito Nishioka and Emil Ruusuvuori. Rune vs Djokovic, this can only be good! Djokovic leads the head-to-head 3:2, and neither player has managed an outright win in any of the matches so far. The “over 3.5 sets” bet is therefore also the right choice for me in this match.
Djokovic has already dropped one set in his last two matches, so the Serb is definitely vulnerable. Rune has slipped down the world rankings after a disappointing year for him so far, but has shown fighting spirit at Wimbledon, battling back from 2-0 down against Quentin Halys.
