Wimbledon today – Matches from 07.07.
The round of the last 16 players is on the program for the men at Wimbledon on Sunday. Only Alexander Zverev is still flying the German flag after Jan-Lennard Struff was eliminated after a strong fight against Daniil Medvedev. Zverev can take it easy on Sunday and only has to play on Monday.
Instead, the young megastars Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz will be on court. The world number one will face Ben Shelton, who has had to play out five sets in all three matches so far. Does he still have enough energy for the tough match against Sinner?
Alcaraz also has a freshness advantage in his match against Ugo Humbert. He was also on court for a shorter time than his opponent Ugo Humbert and, like Sinner, was able to finish his last match on Friday with the roof closed, unlike Humbert and Shelton.
Meanwhile, the opponents had to play again on Saturday due to a long rain break in order to secure their place in the round of 16. I’m expecting both stars to progress in any case, just two matches that I’m highlighting in today’s Wimbledon tips
Wimbledon today – 07.07.2024
Medvedev also has to play on Sunday. He finished his match against Struff shortly before 8 pm on Saturday evening. The 2021 US Open winner continues against Grigor Dimitrov, who has won two of his matches without dropping a set.
Tommy Paul and Roberto Bautista Agut kick off the men’s round of 16. In contrast to Medvedev against Dimitrov, I see the American clearly ahead in this match against the veteran and ambassador of FC Villarreal.
His compatriot Alcaraz definitely has a much better chance, who struggled against Frances Tiafoe as he did two years ago at the US Open, trailing 1:2 in sets, but was able to turn things around in the end.
However, I have yet to see any great conviction from the three top favorites Novak Djokovic, Sinner and Alcaraz. Zverev mastered the first three rounds most confidently, and the German has yet to lose a break or a set. At this level, the long-awaited first Grand Slam title is absolutely possible!

Wimbledon today 07.07.: Paul – Bautista Agut (12:00)
In the first round of 16 of the day I see Paul clearly ahead. Bautista Agut has celebrated a few victories in his career, but is no longer playing at the level of the old days. With Maximilian Marterer, Lorenzo Sonego and Fabio Fognini, he has had quite a rewarding tournament path so far.
He was still on court against Fognini in a five-set thriller on Saturday, while Paul was able to rest up after his quick win against the 2023 Halle champion Alexander Bublik. The world number 13 won nine of his ten grass matches this year, snatching the title at the Queens Club. I see advantages particularly in the quality of Paul’s serve and his fast game.
My expert tip: Victory Paul (-1.5 set HC)
Wimbledon betting today 07.07.: Alcaraz vs. Humbert (14:30)
Tight match for Alcaraz in the third round. Tiafoe surrendered a 2:1 set lead against the defending champion. Alcaraz has not yet shown the great grass court tennis this year. At the preparatory tournament he had to retire in round two and also showed weak phases against Aleksandar Vukic and Mark Lajal.
Ugo Humbert is facing the most important match of his career, he will throw everything into it against Alcaraz. In his first three matches, he had to play six tiebreaks. Alcaraz has also played at least one in every Wimbledon match. At least one set is likely to be tight!
My expert tip: Win Alcaraz & tiebreak in the match
Tennis bets today 07.07.: Sinner – Shelton (15:30)
In my singles analysis of the match against Miomir Kecmanovic, I expected a clear 3:0 for Sinner, the duel ended 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 against a Serb who repeatedly had problems in his service games. This time, the South Tyrolean did not concede a service game himself.
The next task against Ben Shelton is likely to be more difficult. However, the 21-year-old had to play three times over five sets. I don’t see another marathon match in this duel, but the one or other set should be a close affair. Shelton only conceded four breaks in 15 sets. That’s why I’m backing this combination at top betting provider Bet365!
My expert tip: Sinner & tiebreak in the match
Tennis betting today 07.07.: Dimitrov – Medvedev (17:30)
Dimitrov and Medvedev have met ten times so far, the Russian is 7:3 ahead in this duel. However, Dimitrov has won their only clash on grass, which was also their debut clash in 2017. The two top 10 players last played each other in Indian Wells, with Medvedev prevailing in two sets.
Medvedev lost one set each against Alexandre Muller and Jan-Lennard Struff. He is not one of the top favorites on grass. Dimitrov has won two matches outright and is regarded as a strong grass court player. More than three sets will probably be needed to decide the winner of Sunday’s final match. The perfect odds are waiting at Winamax, where you can currently take advantage of a strong €200 free bet offer.
My expert tip: Over 3.5 sets
