Wimbledon today – Matches from 03.07.
The first round at Wimbledon is over. The matches in the round of the last 64 players are already scheduled for Wednesday. Jan-Lennard Struff and Daniel Altmaier are flying the German flag on the third day of the tournament, but face tougher obstacles.
The top favorites Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are also back on court. The defending champion will be challenged by Aleksandar Vukic, while Jannik Sinner will play the match of the day against his compatriot Matteo Berrettini.
It’s the duel of the best Italians in recent years. Sinner is the new number one in the world, recently won in Halle and is also aiming for the Grand Slam title at Wimbledon after the Australian Open. Berrettini is regarded as an exquisite grass court player, reached the Wimbledon final in 2021 and has four grass court titles to his name.

The win for Struff with over 3.5 sets in combination is suggested by my colleague Isabella Strehmann, who is one of our best tipsters every month. Struff won his opening match against Fabian Marozsan in four sets and had previously reached the quarter-finals in Halle and Stuttgart.

It’s the top match on Wednesday, Sinner against Berrettini. The world number one, who has already bagged 39 wins this tennis year and has only lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alcaraz, is the favorite. But Berrettini is in good form after another injury and has already won four grass court tournaments in his career.
Sinner recently clinched his first title on grass in Halle, but dropped a set in each of his first three matches and Yannick Hanfmann also took a set at the start of Wimbledon. Will he crack Berrettini, who has a strong serve, in three sets? I doubt it!

He met Muller in 2016 at a Challenger tournament in St. Remy. On that occasion, Medvedev gave the current 102nd player in the world a hiding, 6:0, 6:0. Back then on hard court, now on grass, it should be another dominant performance from Medvedev, who is much more relaxed in his service games and is also one of the best return players.
