The Spanish league also continues this weekend and we can particularly look forward to a clash on Sunday evening. El Clásico is coming up. Real Madrid welcome rivals and direct rivals Barcelona to the Santiago Bernabéu on matchday 32. Madrid are currently eight points clear at the top of the table, but if Barcelona win this important clash and reduce the gap to five points, the championship duel will be reignited. Will Real decide the race for the title early, or will Barça manage to keep the suspense alive? Find out in our Real Madrid – Barcelona betting tip.
The madridistas dutifully did their homework on the last matchday and recorded their 24th win of the season with an away victory against the 15th-placed team in the table. After struggling badly in the early stages against RCD Mallorca, a long-range strike from Bellingham shortly after the break was enough to secure a 1-0 win. During the week, the Champions League quarter-finals were on the agenda for them, in which they faced Manchester City away from home. After a spectacular 120 minutes, which ended in a 1-1 draw, keeper Lunin saved two of City’s penalties and played a big part in the Whites progressing to the semi-finals.
Like their upcoming opponents, the Catalans had to face a relegation candidate away from home last weekend. Barcelona created many good chances against FC Cadiz and were able to take the lead shortly before the break with a dream goal from João Félix. After the break, the Catalans managed the game and the 1:0 lead was ultimately enough to secure victory. Things became all the more bitter during the week. After Barça won the first leg 3:2 away in Paris against PSG, they were in a very good position for the second leg at home.
They even took an early lead in the 12th minute and everything looked as though they would reach the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time since 2018/19. However, Araujo did his colleagues a disservice with a red card in the 29th minute and Xavi’s team fell apart as a result. Outnumbered, they were unable to defend against the Parisians’ attacking play and were ultimately beaten 4-1.

Real Madrid Form & Balance Check
There was never any other impression, but during the week the capital city team proved it once again. They are currently in incredibly good form. They have won four and drawn one of their last five games and are now unbeaten in the league for 25 games and have been permanently top of the table since matchday 18.
They have only lost twice and drawn eight games in all competitions this season and have won the rest of their 45 games this season. Having reached the Champions League semi-finals, the Whites will go into this El Clásico with an extra boost of confidence
Home strength at Madrid
Madrid feel at home at the Santiago Bernabéu. They have yet to lose at home this season and are unbeaten in 30 games at home in all competitions. Their last home defeat was over a year ago, on April 8th against Villareal. With a home goal difference of 37:7 in the current season, they have by far the best defense and the second strongest offense. It will be incredibly difficult for Barcelona to break them down in the upcoming match
Real Madrid facts & analysis
- Unbeaten in 30 home games
- First place in the table
- Won last game
Barcelona Form & Balance Check
After very difficult times, Barça are also playing their best season in a long time. They have also picked up four wins and a draw from their last five league games, putting them level with Real Madrid in the form table. Although they have only lost three times this season, these point losses mean they have to make do with second place in the table.
They are currently eight points behind Madrid, but if they can close the gap, they would put enormous pressure on the league leaders and still have six games in hand to overtake them.
Strength away at Barcelona
The game will be very interesting, and not just because of the table situation and the two names. While Real Madrid are very strong at home, Barcelona are just as impressive away from home. They have won nine and drawn six of their 15 away games, meaning they are still unbeaten away from home. However, they now face arguably their toughest opponents in Real Madrid and it will be interesting to see how Barcelona have dealt with their setback during the week
Barcelona facts & analysis
- Place two in the table
- Unbeaten in nine games
- Last game won
Carlo Ancelotti will probably field his team in the usual 4-3-1-2. A few changes are possible compared to the game. On the right, Ancelotti can choose between Vazquez and Carvajal and in central defense there is the possibility of using Tchouameni again, but he could just as easily move into midfield. Should the latter happen, Nacho will form the center of the back line alongside Rüdiger. There will be no changes in the attacking line-up. However, should Ancelotti want to rotate due to the workload, then Diaz and Joselu are an option for the attack.
Barcelona will play in their usual 4-3-3. In view of the last game against PSG, there will probably not be a single change. Also due to the importance of this game against Madrid, Xavi will field the A-Eleven
