Find out who will win in this game and who you should bet on in our Leipzig – Wolfsburg betting tip.
Leipzig celebrated a strong 4-1 away win against SC Freiburg on the last matchday and also benefited from Dortmund’s defeat. The battle for the last qualifying place in the top flight is extremely tight.
Wolfsburg, on the other hand, suffered a home defeat against Borussia Mönchengladbach last weekend and are still bobbing around in the lower midfield. They still need a win or two to finally distance themselves from the relegation battle

Leipzig Form & Balance Check
The recent success and BVB’s slip-up allowed coach Marco Rose’s side to leapfrog Dortmund and are currently fourth in the table. This means they hold the final Champions League qualification spot, but are level on points with the Black & Yellows on 53 points.
The Red Bulls are currently in strong form, having won four and drawn one of their last five Bundesliga matches. Their last defeat was against Bayern a few weeks ago. Leipzig also had a good start in the Champions League with two games on level terms against the great Real Madrid
Another double-pack Openda
Loïs Openda is having an outstanding season for Leipzig. Last weekend, he scored another brace against Freiburg. It was the fourth Bundesliga game this season in which the Belgian has scored twice, and the 24-year-old has already done the same in the Champions League this season.
In total, Openda, who joined the Red Bulls from RC Lens last summer, has 21 goals and six assists this season. This makes him his team’s top scorer and puts him behind only Bayern’s Harry Kane and Serhou Guirassy from VfB Stuttgart in the list of top scorers
Leipzig facts & analysis
- Fourth place in the table
- Last game won
- Not lost in six matches
Wolfsburg Form & Balance Check
VfL Wolfsburg are having a mixed season and will be happy to get a re-start at the end of the season. Last weekend’s defeat to Gladbach was their fourth loss from their last five games and the Wolves are in a sobering 14th place in the table.
With currently 28 points, the difference to the relegation place is only five points and Hasenhüttel must be careful not to unintentionally slide towards the relegation places in the last few games
Place-kicks prevent stability
One reason for Wolves’ poor points haul is undoubtedly that the team has provoked too many sending-offs in recent games and thus caused itself damage. The problem is multi-faceted, as Wolfsburg have played more than three halves of the last four games short-handed, which makes it extremely difficult to score three points.
What’s more, a regular player has always had to sit out the following games and Wolfsburg are already struggling to field a well-coordinated team this season. The weekend before last, Maxence Lacroix was forced to sit out against Leipzig due to his straight red card
Wolfsburg facts & analysis
- Place 14 in the table
- Last game lost
- Only three points from the last five games
As usual, Leipzig will play in a 4-4-2 formation. Mohamed Simakan could once again start in the back line. He replaces David Raum, who is suspended. Benjamin Henrichs will move to the left side of defense. As against Freiburg, we expect Amadou Haidara to be back in the starting midfield. Benjamin Šeško will start alongside Openda.
We expect Wolfsburg to play in a 3-4-2-1 system. As against Galdbach, the suspended Lacroix will be replaced by Moritz Jenz. Cedric Zesiger will once again start in place of Yannik Gerhardt. In midfield, the recovered Kevin Paredes could return to the first eleven. Options from the bench are Kevin Behrens and Amin Sarr
