Borussia Mönchengladbach – TSG Hoffenheim
The Bundesliga continues to progress and there are still four matchdays to go before the winter break. Plenty of opportunities for the teams to collect some points and go into Christmas with a good feeling. There are once again some interesting games on the program on this 13th matchday and it promises to be an exciting Bundesliga weekend. Find out who will win this game in our Gladbach – Hoffenheim betting tip.
While some teams had to play in their international competitions during the week, others were able to concentrate fully on the league action and use the entire week to prepare for the upcoming matchday. This also applies to Borussia Mönchengladbach and TSG Hoffenheim, who face off at Borussia-Park on Saturday afternoon. Both clubs are not represented internationally this season, but have ambitions to change this for the coming season.
Hoffenheim are currently much closer to this goal than Gladbach, as they are still within striking distance of the Champions League places. Gladbach, on the other hand, are trying to free themselves from mediocrity and urgently need a home win to climb further up the table. The Foals are still looking for consistency and are not far away from the dangerous lower places in the table

Gladbach Form & Balance Check
Gladbach have not yet managed to rise above mediocrity this season. All too often, very decent performances are followed by games with too many individual mistakes and points dropped. The foals are currently in eleventh place with a haul of 13 points. This means they are already seven points behind Hoffenheim, who are in sixth place and in the final international qualification spot.
However, Gladbach are also forced to look down, as they are just five points off the relegation places. Gladbach’s record from the last six competitive matches is three wins, one draw and two defeats, including against arch-rivals Cologne.
The foals’ current goal difference stands at 25:27, meaning that Borussia have conceded the second most goals in the entire league, a statistic that coach Gerardo Seoane certainly cannot be happy with.
Cursed 2-goal lead
The foals lost 4:2 at BVB last matchday, which is no disgrace as anyone can lose in Dortmund. However, the fact that Gladbach led 2-0 after early goals from Rocco Reitz and Manu Koné and then surrendered the lead before the break is bitter from the Foals’ point of view.
In the end, Borussia again conceded four goals and it was the third time this season that they had squandered a two-goal lead, although Gladbach were at least able to salvage a point twice. Gladbach have already dropped a total of twelve points after taking the lead. That is extremely annoying, because if they had taken at least a few more points from these games, Borussia would be much closer to the international places
Gladbach facts & analysis
- Currently eleventh in the table
- Last game was lost 4:2
- Second most goals conceded in the league
Hoffenheim Form & Balance Check
TSG have had an extremely solid season so far. Coach Pellegrino Matarazzo can be quite satisfied with their current sixth place in the table and 20 points from the first twelve games. This leaves Hoffenheim just four points off a Champions League qualification place. Their record so far this season is six wins, two draws and four defeats.
However, the team is currently going through a bit of a dry spell, as the last win was four match days ago and Hoffenheim have only picked up two points from their last three games. TSG were also knocked out of the DFB Cup against BVB. The team is therefore longing to finally take home another three points and will be hoping for an away win in Gladbach
Away strength
Hoffenheim are one of the strongest away teams in the league this season. With 16 points collected and no defeats away from home, TSG are top of the league, along with Bayern and league leaders Leverkusen. The 15 away goals scored in six games are also very strong.
This means that Hoffenheim have scored an average of 2.5 goals in opposing stadiums. Overall, TSG’s offense is doing well this season, having scored a goal in every Bundesliga match so far. It remains to be seen whether they can prove their away strength at Borussia-Park as well
Hoffenheim facts & analysis
- Currently sixth in the table
- Not won in three games
- Without defeat away from home
Predicted lineup – last update on November 30, 2023
Gladbach play in a 3-5-2 system with Reitz, Koné and Julian Weigl in the center. We expect Allassane Plea and Jordan up front. However, the US-American was slightly injured during the week. Should he not be fit in time, Tomáš Čvančara should get his chance in the starting eleven again.
We also expect Hoffenheim to play in a 3-5-2 formation. After the 1-1 draw against Mainz in the last match, Florian Grillitsch could move back into the playmaker position. Maximilian Beier and Wout Weghorst will be at the heart of the Breisgau attack
