On Monday, Gladbach announced that Stefan Lainer is back on the training pitch after a frightening cancer diagnosis almost four months ago. The Austrian right-back will undergo mandatory performance diagnostics before being gradually integrated into team training.
This is extremely pleasing for Gladbach from both a personal and a sporting perspective. Lainer, whose contract expires at the end of the season, has been an important part of Gladbach’s back line for years. It is to be hoped that he can quickly build on his previous performances and once again become an important option for Gladbach on the right-hand side of defense
