Bayern Munich – RB Leipzig
The top match of the Bundesliga takes place on the 33rd matchday at the Allianz Arena in Munich. There, FC Bayern will receive their rivals from Leipzig on Saturday evening. In the championship battle, this duel could already be decisive. Before the match day, the FCB has a one-point lead over the second-placed team from Dortmund. With Augsburg’s help, the record champions could become German champions for the eleventh time in a row if they win on Sunday. The current form is definitely in favour of the Munich team. Bayern have won their last three games in a row and last week dispatched Schalke 6-0.
RB, however, could be a stumbling block for the record champions. For the Saxons, qualification for the Champions League is still at stake. In addition, RB has also been getting better and better lately. The Leipzigers also won their last three Bundesliga games and reached the final of the DFB Cup again. Marco Rose’s team seems to have found its top form again at the right time.
Moreover, the Saxons have often shown the record champions the limits. In the first leg, for example, RB held the Munich team to a 1-1 draw. Leipzig was also the last team in the Bundesliga to go without conceding a goal at the Allianz Arena. In February 2020, RB fought their way back to a 0-0 draw in Munich. Since then, the FCB has always scored at least one goal in 56 consecutive league games at home. Find out whether the Saxons will manage another surprise on Saturday in our Bayern – Leipzig betting tips.

Bayern Form & Balance Check
Unlike usual, Bayern’s championship title is not yet decided two matchdays before the end this year. Only in two of the Munich side’s last ten championships has the title not been won before the penultimate matchday.
The Munich team is only one point ahead of its rival Dortmund. In recent weeks, Bayern has also had great difficulties at times. Last week, however, the FCB set a big exclamation mark. Against the relegation-threatened Schalker, Bayern won clearly and emphatically with 6:0 and thus gained a lot of self-confidence.
Müller: The guarantor of goals
At the tender age of ten, Thomas Müller ventured to FC Bayern in 2000. Since then, the now 33-year-old striker has gone through all the youth teams of the record champion and over the years has developed into the undisputed key player at FCB. This season, however, Müller has been used less and less.
The 2014 World Cup winner has played in 25 Bundesliga matches for Munich so far, contributing seven goals and seven assists. The attacking player was also involved in numerous chances against Schalke. In addition, FC Bayern have scored 18 of their 19 competitive goals under coach Tuchel this season while Thomas Müller has been on the pitch.

Leipzig form & balance check
Leipzig have now climbed to third place in the table and now have Champions League qualification almost safely in the bag once again.
RasenBallsport have recently won three games in a row, even if the win against Bremen the previous week was only wrapped up in the seventh minute of injury time. With a strong 60 points and an impressive 18 wins, the team now has more points on their account than at the end of the previous season, when they recorded 58 points and 17 wins.
Not enough traction
The Saxons have not been particularly effective with their goal-scoring chances of late. In total, RB Leipzig recorded an impressive 140 shots on goal in their last eight matches. However, the xGoals value makes it clear that the team should actually have scored almost twice as many goals. A clear indication that Leipzig still has potential to improve its finishing efficiency.
Against Bremen, too, RasenBallsport only managed a lucky 2:1 in the end, although the Saxons fired a total of 20 shots towards the Bremen box. Seven of those shots even ended up on Jiri Pavlenka’s goal. In Munich, coach Rose now expects a much more effective use of chances.
Leipzig facts & analysis
- Best scorer is Nkunku with 13 goals and 5 assists.
- Third best offense in the league
- Current DFB Cup Winner
Predicted line-up – last update on 18 May 2023
We expect Bayern to be back in a slightly more defensive 4-2-3-1 against Leipzig, with Pavard and De Ligt again forming the centre-back duo. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, however, will probably be absent in the forward line.
At RB, we expect the usual 4-4-2, with Werner and Nkunku up top. Dani Olmo will probably return to the first eleven after his injury. We also expect Gvardiol to be back in the starting line-up.
