Hertha BSC – Borussia Mönchengladbach
The 20th matchday in the Bundesliga is in the starting blocks and fans can look forward to a total of nine exciting games in the coming days. The ball will not only be rolling on Friday and Saturday, but also on Sunday. At 3:30 p.m., for example, there will be a duel at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium between Hertha and Borussia from Gladbach. The performances of both teams in recent weeks have clearly left a lot to be desired and you can find out who can provide the liberation blow in our Hertha – Gladbach tip.
From Hertha’s point of view, there is really no reason to look at the table at the moment. The Berliners are in penultimate place with 14 points and the Old Lady is once again playing an atrocious season. If there is no turnaround soon, the capital club will have to go down the 2nd division. Gladbach Borussia are in ninth place with 26 points and coach Daniel Farke’s eleven still have at least one eye on the Europa League.

Hertha Form & Balance Check
Is this Hertha still salvageable? We are certainly not the only ones asking ourselves this question. Just about all Herthans are very worried about their club at the moment. If we take a closer look at the bare figures, then the worries are truly not unfounded. Hertha is currently in 17th place and the series of four defeats in a row speaks volumes.
On the last matchday, too, there was nothing to be gained at Eintracht Frankfurt, and with a 3-0 defeat in the bag, they went home again. Hertha’s problem area is well known. With 20 goals after 19 matchdays, only the bottom team from Gelsenkirchen is worse than the Old Lady. Most recently, they even failed to score three times in a row. If they don’t score against Gladbach either, Hertha would set a sad club record.
It’s stuck at the front and back
Hertha are slowly but surely lurching towards their first relegation since the 2011/12 season. Even though there are still 15 matchdays to go, there are truly not many reasons at the moment for the Alte Dame to stay in the relegation zone. Hertha is also the only club in the league that is still without a point in the new year. Furthermore, the Berliners are the club with the fewest goals in 2023 1 and, after Hoffenheim, with the most goals conceded (13). At least the results have been good recently, when Borussia from Gladbach was a guest at the Olympiastadion. Hertha BSC have not lost at home to the Foals for four games (two draws and two wins).
Hertha facts & analysis
– 14 points from 19 games
– Last lost 0:3 against Frankfurt
– Lost all 4 games in 2023
Gladbach form & balance check
The Foals from Gladbach have to hurry up if they want to be in the fight for the Europa League. Before the season, many Gladbach fans had hopes that their club would finally make it to Europe again. The men from the Lower Rhine are currently miles away from that. Gladbach had to be content with a 0-0 draw against Schalke on the last matchday, and as a result the Borussians are increasingly losing touch with sixth place.
One of the reasons why Gladbach are currently stuck in no man’s land in the table is inconsistency. Coach Farke’s team has never managed to remain unbeaten for three games in a row this season. Gladbach are currently on one win and one draw from their last two matches.
Not happy about going to Berlin
On Sunday, a team awaits the Gladbachers against whom they actually have to win if they want to attack the very top once again. However, the team from the Lower Rhine has now waited four games for a win in the capital. If we look at the last two games against Hertha, Gladbach won both of them (two home games). In the end, the Foals kept the upper hand twice without conceding a goal. Compared to the last game against S04, there has to be much more danger in the final third. Especially striker Thuram is still looking for his form. The Gladbach team’s top scorer (ten goals and three assists) is still waiting for his first goal this year.
Gladbach facts & analysis
– 26 points after 19 games
– Last played 0:0 against Schalke
– Last two games won against Hertha
Predicted line-up – last update on 11 February 2023
The Hertha from Berlin must try to finally produce more danger in attack in the upcoming match. The Old Lady is currently anything but in good shape and yet coach Schwarz does not have many options to change. Lukebakio and Niederlechner will probably start again in attack. Hertha will rely on a three-man defence consisting of Uremovic, Kempf and captain Plattenhardt against Gladbach.
The opponents from Gladbach will not change much with regard to the match against Hertha. The Foals will play in their usual 4-3-3. Thuram, who is still without a goal this year, will play in the centre of the attack. Hofmann and Stindl will flank him.
