NBA 2022/23, on Wednesday, 07.12.2022

In my present Cavaliers Lakers tip, I’m going to address why Anthony Davis, with tactful support from his teammate LeBron James, could pull off another gala performance tonight.

Incidentally, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers do meet on the same day as two 2022 World Cup matches, but fortunately their respective kick-off times do not overlap.

If only the Lakers players stayed healthy throughout, then winning streaks like the current one would certainly not be exceptions – in fact, even making the NBA Finals would no longer be unthinkable!

Los Angeles has now won eight of its last ten games of the season and has recently maintained the upper hand even against strong teams like the Trail Blazers (128:109), Milwaukee Bucks (133:129) and Washington Wizards (130:119).

As you can quickly see from the results, the offensive output of the purple and gold has literally exploded. This has certainly to do with the recovery of LeBron James, but also with a currently unleashed Anthony Davis.

What Anthony Davis has offered the fans during his last appearances in the purple and gold jersey has been beyond good and evil: 44 points against the Bucks, which were followed by 55 against the Wizards only two days later, are absolutely top class.

The fact that the Californians were only able to win two of their first twelve NBA games of the 2022/23 season is no longer of interest to anyone in Los Angeles. Because as long as Davis and James stay healthy, the purple and gold will be hard to stop from now on!

With 99 points from the last two games, the next player bet on “The Brow” is a no-brainer for me. Especially as bookmaker Betway is offering odds of a handsome 1.86 if he scores “only” 29 points tonight.

However, I will resort to a player bet not only because Anthony Davis is in an outstanding form, but because the upcoming opponent has enormous problems to assert himself on the board against stocky players.

During the last two direct duels between the Lakers and Cavs, LeBron James, for example, collected a total of 65 points and was thus the most productive player of the men from the City of Angels in both games.

Anthony Davis, on the other hand, grabbed the most rebounds of the game in the last duel (12), but missed previous duels due to his constantly recurring injuries, from which he currently seems to be spared!

Another reason why I expect another gala performance of the duo Davis/James in this duel has to do with the form of the opponent. The Cavs are not bad at all, but they have been hit by bad luck recently.

Dean Wade, a very important forward, is out tonight. In addition, Cleveland just suffered a horrible 81-92 loss to the New York Knicks, in which absolutely nothing seemed to work offensively.

In fact, the Cavaliers have never had a poorer body of work this season – putting up just 81 points on the board is downright weak and could come with a vengeance right before a clash with the in-form Lakers.

With Wade out due to injury – which, incidentally, has also caught the attention of sports betting providers – the Cavaliers Lakers odds have of course also changed slightly.

The odds for the purple and gold are currently 2.39 and in my opinion, given the strength of form of some of the players, must almost necessarily be given the rating “extremely generous”.

By the way: The Lakers have won five of the last six NBA duels between the two franchises.

For LeBron James, this will be a very special evening in any case, as he himself played for the Cavs here for a long time and will generally not be booed at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse even after his departure from Ohio.

Conclusion: The Lakers have been outstanding lately and even managed to pull the wool over the eyes of the beastly Bucks. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are more dominant on the boards than any other duo in the NBA.

Although the purple and gold’s current high in form can quickly subside with the next loss of one of their injury-prone superstars, they are currently one of the best teams in the entire league.

Based on Los Angeles trading as underdogs alone, Cavaliers Lakers odds would suggest an away win bet, but given Anthony Davis’ recent performances, a player bet is perhaps the slightly better betting option for me.

My Cavaliers Lakers tip: “AD” scores over 28.5 points.
