Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Borussia Mönchengladbach
The Bundesliga season is entering the home stretch. This weekend sees the 33rd and penultimate matchday, with many exciting decisions still to be made. Not so, however, for Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Mönchengladbach, who meet in a direct duel on Sunday. Neither can be relegated at this point and neither can reach an international place. Nevertheless, Eintracht and Borussia want to end their mixed Bundesliga seasons on a positive note. The match kicks off at Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt on Sunday at 15:30.
Our prediction for this match can be found in the following Frankfurt vs Gladbach tip. The SGE is currently in eleventh place in the Bundesliga, having collected 40 points from 32 games. This puts Frankfurt in a safe midfield position, where Gladbach also hangs out. Borussia is one place higher in tenth place with one point more. So both have no more options in either direction, but could set their sights on a single-digit place in the table as a target for the last two matchdays.

Frankfurt Form & Balance Check
Despite their mediocre Bundesliga performance, Eintracht can talk about a successful season. Under the new coach Oliver Glasner, only a mid-table position was achieved in the league, but the big hobbyhorse this season is of course the Europa League. This has once again become the SGE’s favourite competition and has given the fans magical nights on Thursday nights time and again. Here, Frankfurt were able to prevail in the knockout phase against big names such as Betis Sevilla, FC Barcelona and, most recently, West Ham United, and are thus fully deserving of a place in the final on 18 May in Sevilla.
It’s not going well in the league
In the second leg against West Ham (1-0), Frankfurt also won the second duel with the Londoners on Thursday, winning 3-1 on aggregate. This means that Eintracht can look back on three wins in a row in the Europa League, which, however, represent the only three wins in the last eleven competitive matches. In the Bundesliga, on the other hand, the Eagles have been winless for six games, with only three points and just as many goals in that period. On the last matchday, Eintracht were without a chance in a 2-0 defeat at Leverkusen, and Glasner had also radically rotated the team. The focus of Frankfurt in the season finale is therefore clearly on the Europa League.
Frankfurt facts & analysis
– 11th place in the Bundesliga, 40 points from 32 games.
– Last win 1:0 against West Ham
– Winless in 6 league games, only 3 points in that period
Gladbach form & balance check
Gladbach are on a good way to end their messed up season halfway conciliatory. In the meantime, even a single-digit place in the table is possible again, Borussia has slowly worked its way up through good performances in recent weeks and banished any relegation worries. The Foals have only suffered one defeat in their last seven games, and Gladbach have scored at least one goal in each of them. In addition, four victories and a total of 14 goals were scored in this period, which also allowed Borussia to take home a full 14 points.
Borussia on the up
Easily the most impressive treble of these last few weeks came against Champions League aspirants RB Leipzig last matchday. In a 3-1 win over the Saxons, Borussia scored three goals for the second game in a row, with Embolo and Hofmann (2) scoring. Nkunku was able to equalise for RB in the meantime, but Gladbach, who were visibly more mature, were not distracted by this or by Elvedi’s red card. In the last two games against Frankfurt and Hoffenheim, Borussia can ensure that at least a halfway good aftertaste of this mixed season remains.
Gladbach facts & analysis
– 10th place in the Bundesliga, 41 points from 32 games.
– Last win 3:1 against Leipzig
– Lost only 1 of last 7 matches
Predicted line-up – last update on 6 May 2022
We believe in another rotation from Frankfurt coach Glasner, but it shouldn’t be quite as big as last time due to next week being off. Compared to Thursday’s EL game, Toure, Hasebe, Chandler and Jakic could move in. Hinteregger is probably out with a suspected muscle fibre tear, otherwise all players are on board.
On the other hand, coach Adi Hütter will have to do without the suspended Kone and Elvedi in the duel with his former club, and Thuram will probably be out injured again. Kramer is also questionable for the time being. Should he not be able to play, Hofmann will probably move next to Neuhaus and Plea will take his place further forward. Friedrich and Ginter are possible replacements for Elvedi.
Good night! ❤️❤️❤️
