Wimbledon today – Matches on July 6
We have now reached the round of 16 at Wimbledon. The first half of the matches will take place today, with the rest being played on Monday. Today, the champion of the past two years, Carlos Alcaraz, will be in action.
The Spaniard and five-time Grand Slam champion knocked the last German player out of the tournament. Jan-Lennard Struff was able to put pressure on his opponent and, as in all his previous matches, win a set, but was ultimately eliminated.
This means that Laura Siegemund is the last German player in the singles. Like Tatjana Maria before her at Queen’s Club, she defeated Australian Open winner Madison Keys and now has a very good chance in the round of 16. For Siegemund, this is her second-best Grand Slam result in her long career.
In 2020, she reached the quarterfinals at the French Open. In today’s Wimbledon tips, I’ll take a look at the match and give you some odds to consider. We’ll also cover all the men’s matches.
Wimbledon today – July 6, 2025
Alcaraz does not have an easy opponent in the round of 16. He has to face Andrey Rublev, who has already won several majors in his career and has been a fixture in the top 10 for many years. And the Russian is in good form on the hallowed turf.
Stuttgart winner Taylor Fritz is also still in the mix. He initially faltered against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, but was able to seal the deal in the fourth set and now has to defend himself against Jordan Thompson.
Nicolas Jarry sent fan favorite Joao Fonseca home. Local hero Cameron Norrie is receiving even more support from the stands. He is the last Briton remaining in the field, with Jack Draper already out in the second round.
And then there is Karen Khachanov, who had to play two five-set matches and now faces one of the tournament’s surprise packages, Kamil Majchrzak. He not only beat former Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini, but also Zverev’s conqueror Arthur Rinderknech.
Tennis betting today 06.07.: Khachanov – Majchrzak (12:00 p.m.)
Will Majchrzak now knock out the world number 20 as well? Before Wimbledon, he lost all three of his grass court matches, but now he has won twice in straight sets against Ethan Quinn and Rinderknech. However, he is likely to have a tough time against the top server in what is his best Grand Slam tournament to date.
Khachanov has also won all three of his matches. However, his performances at Wimbledon have not been flawless, and his only grass court match was a close one. His one-dimensional baseline game makes him vulnerable when he goes through a phase of not hitting the ball.
My expert tip: Over 3.5 sets
Wimbledon today 06.07: Sierra – Siegemund (12:00 p.m.)
Exciting days for Siegemund, who is in the last 16 of a major for the second time and is also still in the women’s and mixed doubles. She has flown through the rounds in the singles, dropping a maximum of four games in a set.
She secured a whopping 53 percent of the return points against Keys. Now she faces the world number 101, Solana Sierra, a 21-year-old inexperienced player on grass. However, I see Siegemund ahead in both her serve and her return.
My expert tip: Sieg Siegemund
Wimbledon betting today 06.07.: Fritz – Thompson (2:00 p.m.)
I was right in the end with over 3.5 sets against Davidovich Fokina, but it was one of the more consistent matches for the American, who had previously had to play two five-set matches and had already played several long matches in Eastbourne.
Thompson had to play the same number of sets in the first rounds, but had the clearly more favourable tournament path. On grass, however, he is a dangerous opponent who has already defeated several big names in his career. Betano offers the perfect odds.
My expert tip: Over 3.5 sets
Tennis betting today, July 6: Jarry – Norrie (4:00 p.m.)
Jarry didn’t have much luck before Wimbledon this year, with the Chilean dropping from 16th to 143rd in the rankings within a year. In London, he has turned things around after qualifying, defeating Holger Rune and Fonseca. The quarter-finals should now also be achievable.
Norrie is a good defensive player, but has clear weaknesses in his serve and game speed. Jarry is much more courageous and currently has the touch, plus he won the only match against Norrie on faster ground. I can’t understand why he has the slightly higher odds.
My expert tip: Jarry to win
Wimbledon today, July 6: Rublev – Alcaraz (5:30 p.m.)
It’s nice to see Rublev getting back on track. Today, however, he will have to step it up a notch to advance to the quarterfinals. His hope: Alcaraz has not been flawless so far, and the head-to-head record stands at 2:2.
Rublev had to go to four sets against Laslo Djere and Lloyd Harris, but recently recorded a straight-sets victory over Adrian Mannarino. But like Khachanov, his compatriot lacks a bit of flair, and Alcaraz has the broader repertoire. In my opinion, though, he can win one set.
My Rublev Alcaraz tip: Rublev to win the set
