Third match, third thriller? Cameron Norrie and Holger Rune know each other very well from this year. 7-6, 4-6, 6-4 and 6-2, 5-6, 6-4, that’s how close the Brit won both head-to-head duels. This time, too, he is favoured with odds of 1.20 to 3.80.
No wonder, because Norrie is still without a set loss in this US Open. After his 6-0, 7-6, 6-0, a strange result against Benoit Paire, he also won smoothly against Joao Sousa. But: his 6-4, 6-4, 7-6 was really close.
He only allowed two breaks, which is strong. Holger Rune will be relatively rested in any case. His eagerly awaited match against John Isner was cancelled by the American side.
Therefore, only his performance against Peter Gojowczyk, whom he defeated 6-2, 6-4, 7-6, remains. Since his quarter-final at the French Open, he has only won three matches, so his performances are still to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Has Denis Shapovalov finally regained his composure or has he just been lucky twice recently? The bad boy has been out of form for months, losing to underdogs as well as top players. Many are therefore surprised that he has made it to the 3rd round.
Against Marc-Andrea Hüsler he showed his typical long match, winning in five sets. In round 2 he faced Roberto Carballes, here Shapovalov came to a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
Although he won over 80% of the points on his first serve, he also made 24 double faults. It was not without drama for Andrey Rublev either, at 7-6, 6-3, 3-6, 4-6, 6-4 made it unnecessarily tense. But his 6-3, 6-0, 6-4 against Soon-woo Kwon was all the more convincing.
1.50 to 2.50? It is Rublev who is slightly ahead at the bookmakers. In the direct duel, by the way, the score is 2:2, which also speaks for the fact that two players are on an equal footing here.

A year ago he had to retire injured in the quarterfinals, now Carlos Alcaraz wants to attack again. After a fantastic spring, he has had to bake somewhat smaller rolls lately, even in finals he lacked his usual sovereignty.
Of course, that is not unusual for a 19-year-old. In New York, however, he has shown his best side so far. When he was 7-5, 7-5, 2-0 up against Sebastian Baez, his opponent had to retire.
Against Federico Coria, the second Argentinean, he finally won 6-2, 6-1, 7-5. His opponents had an unbelievable 24 break opportunities, so Alcaraz was quite lucky that so few were used. He now meets Jenson Brooksby for the first time, with a clear advantage of 1.29 to 3.90.
The American is desperate to repeat his quarter-final performance at his home Grand Slam in 2021, when he even won a set against Novak Djokovic. After his win over an unfit Dusan Lajovic, it was also the turn of the in-form Borna Coric, here Brooksby won 6-4, 7-6, 6-1.

After failing directly to Borna Coric in the 1st round in Cincinnati, he now seems to be back in better form. After a three-year break, Nadal is serving, and that he is heavily favoured in his 3rd round match at 1.05 to 9.00 is no coincidence.
He has already played Richard Gasquet 17 times, and indeed: the direct comparison goes to him with 17:0! This duel has taken place five times at a Grand Slam and the Spaniard has not lost a single set.
