Jack Draper is aiming high, why not rock the US Open at the age of 20? The Brit has been aiming high for many weeks now, travelling to New York with two quarter-finals to his name and desperate to add to his tally.
There is no question that he can do it. He not only defeated Emil Rusuuvuori 6-4, 6-3, 6-3, but then also threw out top player Felix Auger-Aliassime with a straight 6-4, 6-4, 6-4! He thwarted all three break chances of the Australian.
And so it comes about that he is the favourite for the match against Karen Khachanov. 1.70 to 2.10, the bookmakers obviously expect a hot dance. Khachanov, on the other hand, needed four sets for his victories against Denis Kudla and Thiago Monteiro.
Winning around 80% of points on the first serve is usually standard, and at almost two metres, the Russian knows how to serve. The fact that he has never reached the 3rd round here in New York should not exactly boost his confidence for Friday.
