Even if no one from Germany or Switzerland is serving in the men’s singles, the tournament has a lot to offer. The schedule on Thursday presents us with matches in which we actually expected completely different names.
Whether Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas or Carlos Alcaraz, these three top stars already have to sit in front of the TV. So it is others who will rock Montreal – not least the now big favourite Nick Kyrgios or also Jannik Sinner.
Shortly before the last Grand Slam of the year, some of the world’s top players will unpack their best shots. The best conditions for our tennis tips today to guarantee high tension.

Tennis tips today – 11.08.2022
You always have to have Casper Ruud on your mind, even off the clay. On Thursday, he will play his second match against Roberto-Bautista Agut, who is actually also more of a specialist for the red surface.
Hubert Hurkacz knows the feeling of winning the Masters, he now wants to get far ahead in Montreal as well. His opponent in the round of 16 comes from Spain: Albert Ramos-Vinolas, currently in good form.
After Taylor Fritz won the American duel against Frances Tiafoe, Daniel Evans should not be a problem worth mentioning. But beware: The Briton has already sent Andrey Rublev home!
What Nick Kyrgios has been showing for a few months now impresses the tennis world immensely. The doubles champion from Washington threw out Daniil Medvedev, so the match against Alex de Minaur should actually be a bit of a walkover!
Things finally seem to be going better for Felix Auger-Aliassime. After his narrow victory in the 1st round, he will have to work hard to defeat Cameron Norrie as well.
Tennis tips today broadcast: Where are the matches on 11.08.?
With a Masters just before the US Open, Sky naturally won’t miss the broadcast. The pay-TV giant has secured the rights, starts its programme daily at around 6pm. Only when we are close to the final does the show, as well as the matches, start later.
Tennis tips today 11.08.: Casper Ruud – Roberto Bautista Agut (18:00)
What happens when two professionals on clay suddenly face each other on hard court? That’s exactly what happens in the round of 16 between Casper Ruud and Roberto Bautista-Agut, with the younger player holding a razor-thin lead at 1.75 to 2.00 at the betting shops.
Ruud made it to the last 16 with his 7-6, 6-3 over Alex Molcan, one more round and he would have set his best result in Canada. It’s a similar story for Bautista-Agut, who has been in the top eight three times in a row recently.
It is also the Spaniard who wins the direct duel. He has won both matches so far outright. He himself already has two games under his belt in Montreal, eliminating the two Americans Marcos Giron and Jenson Brooksby outright.
He is self-confident, after all he travelled to Montreal with the title from Kitzbühel in his luggage. But beware: Ruud is also in good form, as he snatched the trophy in Gstaad with a win over Matteo Berrettini.
Our expert tip: Win Ruud
Tennis tips today 11.08: Albert Ramos-Vinolas – Hubert Hurkacz (19:30)
Never before has Albert Ramos-Vinolas progressed beyond the 1st round at the Canada Open, but for 2022 the Spaniard has apparently thought: if not now, when? He sent both David Goffin and Diego Schwartzman straight home!
He had already attracted attention in Gstaad and Kitzbühel, reaching the semi-finals twice. Back then he clearly failed due to opponents who were too strong, and now he is presented with such an opponent today.
3,90 to 1,25, the bookmakers also see no chance for him in the duel with Hubert Hurkacz. In Monte Carlo a few months ago, the only direct match went 2-0 to the Pole, who is, however, lucky to still be in Montreal.
The 6-3, 6-7, 6-2 win over Emil Rusuuvuori could well have tipped the scales. He had lost to the Finn at the Citi Open a few days earlier! After winning the title in Halle, he was knocked out twice in the 1st round, also in Wimbledon – now he seems to have regained his composure.
Our Expert Tip: Over 21.5 Games
Tennis tips today 11.08.: Daniel Evans – Taylor Fritz (20:50 Uhr)
Who had Daniel Evans on their radar for this Canada Masters? Probably very few, because the 32-year-old hasn’t really been strong lately. Now he attracted attention with a smooth 6-4, 6-4 against Andrey Rublev.
Before that, he had played an extremely strange match against Filip Krajinovic and won it 6-2, 1-6, 6-0. Only 21 games in three sets, that’s something you rarely see. Evans now gets to face an opponent he theoretically beat at the Citi Open.
At 3-6, 7-6, 4-1, Taylor Fritz retired injured. But now the American is fit again and ready for the triumph in Canada. It’s the first time he’s made it past the first round here anyway, and he’s already beaten a Brit in the process.
After beating Andy Murray 6-1, 6-3, he had a much harder time against compatriot Frances Tiafoe, but still won 5-7, 6-1, 6-4. The 19 aces show: 1.96 metres help with the service. For comparison: Evans measures only 1.75m! With 1.45 to 2.60 Fritz is still only just ahead.
Our Expert Tip: Win Fritz
Tennis tips today 11.08.: Nick Kyrgios – Alex de Minaur (21:00)
Is there anyone who can stop Nick Kyrgios at the moment? Like a phoenix, the former enfant terrible rose from the ashes, suddenly focused only on the sport. After the Wimbledon final, he won two doubles titles and one singles title.
It is clear that the doubles champion from Washington is also seen far ahead in Montreal, in the meantime he is even the top favourite. And for good reason, of course: After his 6-4, 6-4 against Sebastian Baez, he beat the world No. 1!
6-7, 6-4, 6-2 against Daniil Medvedev, Kyrgios got stronger with every shot. He did not allow a single break and only gave his opponent the chance twice. Will it be easier against Alex de Minaur? As expected, he is in the lead with 1.40 to 2.90.
His compatriot is a completely different type of player, but he is also convincing in Montreal. He threw out Denis Shapovalov and Grigor Dimitrov, both results had more than 22 games. Will the first duel with Kyrgios be a thriller?
Our Kyrgios de Minaur expert tip: 2:0 Kyrgios
Tennis tips today 11.08.: Cameron Norrie – Felix Auger-Aliassime (22:20 Uhr)
It was a deuce result, as you would expect from him. Felix Auger-Aliassime made it through the 1st round in Montreal, but had to shake quite a bit in a 7-6, 6-4 loss to Yoshihito Nishioka.
Not untypical for the young Canadian, who has not become more consistent even after the first title of his career a few months ago in Rotterdam. Most recently in Los Cabos, he only failed in the semi-finals, but he also lost to his first tough opponent.
And his opponent was Cameron Norrie. Now the two will meet again immediately, in fact the direct comparison is 4:1 for Auger. But be careful: the Briton is still in good form. Semi-final in Wimbledon, final in Los Cabos, what’s next in Montreal?
Not only did he beat Brando Nakashima outright here, his 6-1, 6-2 win over Botic van de Zandschulp has to be rated even higher. So it’s quite surprising that Auger-Aliassime is ahead at 1.70 to 2.00!
Our Expert Tip: Win Norrie
