Tennis tips today – Matches today from 30.04.
The round of 16 in Madrid is on the program. Alexander Zverev, who will face Francisco Cerundolo, is among the players. The German number two Jan-Lennard Struff has also made it into the last 16.
Struff is flying high, having won his first 250 in Munich and marched through the first round of the Masters in Madrid, the tournament in which he reached the final last year, without dropping a set.
The Warsteiner now faces a rematch against Carlos Alcaraz, but three rounds earlier. Can he even beat the high-flyer and tournament winner of the past two years in his top form? This is one of the questions I will be discussing in my tennis tips today.
But it won’t just be an exciting day of tennis for Black-Red-Gold. In the duel between Hubert Hurkacz and Taylor Fritz, two exquisite servers will clash, with Andrey Rublev, Tallon Griekspoor, Jiri Lehecka and Rafael Nadal completing the line-up
Tennis tips today – 30.04.2024
The conditions in Madrid suit Zverev. The Hamburg-born player stumbled in Munich and has lost three of his last four matches at the 250-ranked tournament. He has been able to make a much bigger impact in the Spanish capital in the recent past.
The ball travels faster and bounces higher, which is why the reigning Olympic champion has already been crowned champion twice at one of his favorite tournaments. He was recently dethroned by Alcaraz, who defeated him the last two times he played at the same venue.
Struff also had to pay tribute to the clay court qualities of the 20-year-old and wants to take revenge for his defeat in the round of 16 in 2024. However, when scouring the odds in the best sports betting apps, it becomes clear that he is facing a mammoth task.
Alongside Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner is regarded as a hot favourite in the title race in Madrid. In the following predictions, I’ll show you who is likely to be the favorite on Tuesday and which tennis bets are the best today:
Tennis tips today: Where are the matches on 30.04.?
The broadcasting rights for the Madrid Open are held by Sky. All the round of 16 matches will be broadcast live with German commentary on the Sky Sport Tennis channel, with ex-professional Philipp Kohlschreiber among the experts.
But you can also watch the matches on stream without pay TV. You can simply access the live stream feature from betting provider Bet365, provided you have a top-up betting balance. Another advantage with Bet365: since this year, bets are tax-free!
Tennis betting today 30.04.: Rublev vs. Griekspoor (11:00 am)
Rublev’s debut on clay this season went badly wrong. At the Masters in Monaco, which he won last year, he lost his first match against Alexei Popyrin. He also lost to Brandon Nakashima in the opening match in Barcelona, two surprising defeats.
With a lot of anger in his stomach, he at least fought his way back into the round of 16 in Madrid after successes against Facundo Bagnis and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. But the match against Holland’s strongest tennis player, Griekspoor, will be anything but a walk in the park. The 27-year-old took Holger Rune out of the field in a thrilling three-set duel.
Our expert tip: Set win Griekspoor
Tennis betting today 30.04.: Hurkacz vs. Fritz (12:20 pm)
Hurkacz and Fritz have yet to meet on clay. The direct comparison is 3:2 in favor of the US-American. Only four places separate the two 1.96-meter tall service specialists in the world rankings. Unsurprisingly, they have already played four tiebreaks against each other.
Even in the fast conditions in Madrid, it could be some time before we see a break. Therefore, an overmatch bet is the right choice in my opinion. Three of the first four Madrid matches between the two stars went over 22.5 games.
Our expert tip: Over 22.5 games
Tennis tips today 30.04.: Cerundolo vs. Zverev (13:40)
Zverev and Madrid, it just fits. In 2018 and 2021 he left the clay court classic as the winner. In 2024, he started with two outright victories against Borna Coric and Denis Shapovalov. Both are currently in poor form and the really big hurdle is still to come.
Cerundolo has also hardly been able to make a mark apart from his semi-final appearance in Rio, starting with successes against Fabian Marozsan and Tommy Paul. Zverev is the better player in almost all areas, he serves more dangerously and more consistently and is also the stronger return player. I’m assuming the German’s next outright success and am offering the corresponding odds at Merkur Bets.
Our expert tip: 2:0 Zverev
Tennis betting today 30.04.: Struff vs. Alcaraz (16:00)
Nine matches, eight wins, no, that’s not Alcaraz’s record in 2024, but Struff’s. Only Sinner, who has been outstanding this year, has slowed him down on clay so far. He never dropped a set in Munich and Madrid. Now there is the big endurance test against Alcaraz.
The young Spaniard has been struggling with several injuries this season, which is why he had to miss the tournaments in Barcelona and Monaco, among others. But the break paid off. Thiago Seyboth Wild and Alexander Shevchenko were swept off the court by the rules. I think Struff has more confidence in his current form, as he is only 1:2 behind in the direct comparison and has always managed to take a set against Alcaraz.
Our expert tip: Over 19.5 matches
Tennis betting today 30.04.: Nadal vs. Lehecka (21:30)
Rafael Nadal and Madrid, that just fits. The Spaniard advanced to the round of 16 with a 6:1, 6:7, 6:3 victory over Argentina’s Pedro Cachin and will delight fans, spectators and opponents at least once again today.
When the veteran is on the clay court, his form on paper is irrelevant. He is improving from match to match on his comeback tour, but in the meantime he has two tricky and energy-sapping three-set matches behind him. In terms of play, I see him ahead against Lehecka, but it’s unlikely to be a quick affair this time either.
Our expert tip: Over 2.5 sets
