Tennis Tips today – Matches today 30.04.
On the one hand, two top-class men’s semi-finals in Munich, on the other hand, only the 3rd round in the women’s tournament in Madrid – for tennis fans, there is once again plenty of excitement on offer on Saturday!
The BMW Open will end on Sunday, so it will be decided the day before who will get the two tickets for the final. This much can already be revealed: Not all the favourites are still in the running!
Further south, in the Spanish capital, almost the entire world’s women’s elite will be competing. It will take another week before the winner is decided, but already we are thrilled by real top duels.
Tennis Tips Today – 30.04.2022 Preview
The fans of the BMW Open have been wishing for a German semi-finalist – and they get one! Oscar Otte is playing a phenomenal tournament, so whether it’s a punishment or more of a reward to now meet Zverev vanquisher Holger Rune?
In the second semi-final, two players will face each other who were not necessarily on the cards before the tournament started. When Miomir Kecmanovic and Botic van de Zandschulp serve, the Serb is favoured with odds of 1.50 to 2.50 on average.
Will Belinda Bencic feel comfortable on the Spanish clay? The Swiss is considered one of the favourites after her triumph in Charleston. She has to play Karolina Muchova in her 2nd round match and is considered a favourite by the bookmakers with odds of 1,40 to 3,00.
Simona Halep against Paula Badosa? Here the draw has not meant well for both players, because this could also be a fitting final! The Spaniard is slightly ahead, but a win for Halep would not be a surprise.
Viktorija Azarenka finally wants to be more consistent in Madrid, she hasn’t been in good form lately, neither athletically nor emotionally. Tamara Zidansek is not in top form, but with odds of 2.50 to 1.50 she is only slightly behind the Belarusian.
Tennis tips today broadcast: Where are the matches on 30.04.?
In Munich, the tournament has reached the hot phase. For the TV broadcast, this means that almost every match will be shown. On Sky Sport, the matches on Centre Court make it into the programme, the BR stream shows a selected match per day. One quarter-final and one semi-final, including the final, will be broadcast directly by BR. If you want to watch the women’s matches in Madrid, you need an account with Tennis Channel or WTA TV.
Tennis tips today 30.04.: Miomir Kecmanovic vs Botic van de Zandschulp (13:30 h)
25 games in just one match – when Miomir Kecmanovic and Botic van de Zandschulp met for the first time in Indian Wells a few weeks ago, the Serb won an incredibly close duel. This time, too, he is slightly favoured.
In Munich, Kecmanovic has had no problems at all so far, beating his opponents with ease. First he triumphed over the Germans Max Rehberg (6-3, 6-2) and Daniel Altmaier (6-2, 6-4), then he beat Nikolos Bassilaschwili 7-6, 6-2.
Five times he was eliminated in the quarter-finals, always against very strong competition, now he is among the best four. Not everyone expected Botic van de Zandschulp, but the Dutchman has not lost a set at the BMW Open.
7-6, 6-3 against Brandon Nakashima, 6-2, 6-3 against Egor Gerasimov and 7-5, 6-1 against none other than top favourite Casper Ruud – his debut in Munich could be a big success straight away.
Our expert tip: Victory Kecmanovic
Tennis tips today 30.04.: Holger Rune – Oscar Otte (15:00)
The crowd in Munich was expecting Alexander Zverev to reach the semi-finals, but had to watch the hopeful fail without a chance against Holger Rune in round one. The Dane, who turned 19 on Friday, is playing a sensational tournament.
Besides the 7-6, 6-3 win over Jiri Lehecka and the 6-3, 6-2 win over Zverev, he also beat Emil Ruusuvuori, 6-0, 6-2. From game to game, he dominates his opponents more and more, but is now likely to feel the headwind from the crowd.
Oscar Otte will finally have the crowd on his side. But not only the home advantage speaks for the German. His performances in the previous rounds are something to be proud of.
In the round of 16 he did not give the US-American Reilly Opelka a chance after a difficult start (7:6, 6:2). In the semi-finals, Alejandro Tabilo was clearly defeated 6:1 and 7:6. In spite of everything, however, Otte only has the role of the underdog against Holger Rune.
Our expert tip: Win Rune
Tennis tips today 30.04: Karolina Muchova – Belinda Bencic (15:15 h)
As world number 13, Belinda Bencic is one of the favourites in Madrid, but she has more than just the bare numbers to thank for that. Already in Miami, Bencic showed an upward form and reached the semi-finals.
In Charleston, she also had a bit of luck on her side, beating Paula Badosa, Madison Keys and Ons Jabeur, among others, to win the title in the end. Three won tiebreaks proved how strong her nerves are.
In the Spanish capital, the Swiss player got off to an easy start with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Irina Begu. Will Karolina Muchova be a more challenging opponent? The Czech almost went out, turning a deficit against Zheng Qinwen into a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Muchova cannot be in a good rhythm yet, because she had to take six months off after the US Open. She dropped out of Miami, but now she wants to keep it up in Madrid. Her only duel with Bencic ended 7-5, 2-1, as injury forced Muchova to retire here as well.
Our expert tip: Under 24.5 games
Tennis tips today 30.04: Simona Halep – Paula Badosa (19:15)
Paula Badosa, the new world No. 2, naturally wants to go as far as possible in the Spanish capital. Last year she reached the semi-finals here, only to be eliminated by Ashleigh Barty.
Her debut a few days ago was more than successful, against Veronika Kudermetova she managed a quick 6-3, 6-0. A few days ago in Stuttgart she lost in the semi-finals against Aryna Sabalenka, with whom Badosa will now compete in the doubles in Madrid.
Badosa has been playing well since January, but it was not enough for a second title in 2022. Simona Halep has been shaky in recent months, even slipped out of the top 20 in the world rankings and thought about ending her career. Now, however, the Romanian wants to come back all the stronger.
She started very confidently in Madrid with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Zhang Shuai, and now she will meet Badosa for the very first time. She has already reached the final four times here and won it in 2016 and 2017. This time, however, she is not one of the absolute top favourites.
Our expert tip: Win Badosa
Tennis tips today 30.04.: Viktorija Azaranka – Tamara Zidansek (11:15 a.m.)
It was 13 years ago that Viktorija Azarenka first competed at the Madrid Open, reaching the final in 2011 and 2012. Despite quite stable years, the Belarusian is far away from those glorious times and lately she also seemed to be emotionally unfit.
She won only two matches in the last four tournaments, but at least she was convincing in her first round match in Madrid when she defeated Viktorija Golubic 7-6, 6-3. At 1.50 to 2.50, the bookies favour her ahead of appearance two, but are rather cautious.
Her opponent, Tamara Zidansek, competed in Madrid for the first time last year, failing in the 2nd round despite winning the set against Ashleigh Barty. Her 6-2, 6-3 against Beatriz Maia to start the 2022 tournament was already very commanding.
Something that cannot necessarily be said about her recent performances, because in Indian Wells as well as in Miami and Stuttgart she was eliminated in round 1. On the other hand, she won her only direct encounter with Azarenka a year ago 6-2, 6-2.
Our expert tip: 2:0 Azarenka
