Tennis Tips Today – Matches Today 28.04.
Munich or Madrid, men or women? Just before the French Open, the tennis elite are preparing for the second Grand Slam of the year. Most of the world-class athletes are competing.
At the BMW Open in the Bavarian capital, not everything is going according to plan from the German point of view, but there is still one hopeful. This one, however, has now got a really tough one.
The fans in the stands are hoping for a surprise from Oscar Otte. In the women’s tournament, everything is a bit bigger in Madrid, but the prime tournament will have to do without one or two players.
Even without the first, Iga Swiatek, and Angelique Kerber, all the top stars have travelled to the Spanish sun to draw attention to themselves before the French Open. There are certainly a few favourites.
Tennis tips today – 28.04.2022 Preview
Is Oscar Otte setting himself up to be the German title hope in Munich? The second-best in black-red-gold will have to get rid of a very big player in the round of 16, namely Reilly Opelka, who the bookmakers logically also favour.
Botic van de Zandschulp has shown more and more often in the last months that he can take the top players by surprise. In his second match against Egor Gerasimov, the bookmakers therefore see him in the lead.
Hugo Gaston and Alejandro Tabilo are not among the title favourites in Munich, but one of them will make it into the top eight. The Chilean in particular has played himself into focus with his victory over Cristian Garin.
She narrowly missed out on the title in Stuttgart despite a great performance, can Aryna Sabalenka strike back in Madrid? With Amanda Anisimova she gets a challenging opponent right in the 1st round, which is why the bookies are also very cautious with odds of 2.00 to 1.80.
Maria Sakkari wants to get back to her old consistency after the rollercoaster of the last weeks. Final, early exit, injury retirement, can she show against Madison Keys that she is rightly among the world’s best?
Tennis tips today broadcast: Where are the matches on 28.04.?
The BMW Open is heading for the decider, which is also important with regard to the TV broadcast. Sky will broadcast the matches on Centre Court, and one match per day can be followed on the BR stream. There is also an opportunity to watch the final as well as the semi-finals and quarter-finals on Bavarian radio. The ladies in Madrid? For this you need access to WTA TV or Tennis Channel.
Tennis tips today 28.04.: Botic van de Zandschulp vs Jahor Gerasimov (11:00 am)
Whoever enters a tournament seeded eighth should definitely show up among the secret favourites. Botic van de Zandschulp has been showing for a few months that he deserves his place in the world’s top 50.
His opener in Munich cost him some effort, but he eventually won 7-6, 6-3 against Brandon Nakashima. He hasn’t reached a quarter-final since Melbourne in January, but will he do so at the BMW Open?
Egor Gerasimov had to start in qualifying and did so brilliantly. 7-6, 6-1 against Francisco Cerundolo and 6-1, 6-1 against Thiago Monteiro, two better ranked players had no chance.
In the main draw, he came back strongly against John Millman, winning 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, fending off ten break chances in his victory. The Belarusian was already strong in Barcelona, winning against Adrian Mannarino and taking a set from Cameron Norrie.
Our expert tip: Over 2.5 sets.
Tennis tips today 28.04: Reilly Opelka – Oscar Otte (14:30)
Last year Jan-Lennard Struff stepped into the breach, made it to the final. Is Oscar Otte the man to fly the German flag this time after Alexander Zverev’s early exit?
The 28-year-old beat youngster Marko Topo 6-1, 6-2 in a quick-fire first round, but of course he was not his match. After his quarter-final in Belgrade, he wants to go far in Munich as well.
For the first time he now meets tennis giant Reilly Opelka. With odds of 2.40 to 1.60, he is the underdog, but not without a chance. The American had to withdraw from the Miami Open, but came back strongly with the tournament win in Houston.
Close results with many tiebreaks are the order of the day here, unforgettable is his 6-7, 6-7 against Rafael Nadal a few weeks ago in Indian Wells. Three finals and two wins, 2022 could be his year.
Our expert tip: Win Opelka.
Tennis tips today 28.04: Hugo Gaston – Alejandro Tabilo (16:00)
On his debut in Munich, Hugo Gaston could provide a most pleasing result straight away. The Frenchman, who beat John Isner in Miami, started the BMW Open with a real thriller.
His 6-4, 6-7, 7-5 against Marcos Giron cost him quite a bit of energy. He won 79% of his first serve points and didn’t allow a single break, with these strengths he played his way into the last 16.
Four semi-finals (two finals) in the last few weeks, his opponent, Alejandro Tabilo, should demand everything from Gaston. He has digested his debacle in Belgrade against Oscar Otte, but lost one of the two qualifying matches in Munich.
All the stronger was what the Chilean showed in the main draw. His smooth 6-3, 6-4 win over compatriot Cristian Garin surprised even some experts. The actual top player Garin only managed two breaks!
Our expert tip: Over 21.5 Games.
Tennis tips today 28.04: Amanda Anisimova – Aryna Sabalenka (15:30)
The world number 1 had to cancel due to injury, will Aryna Sabalenka now automatically become the top favourite in Madrid? Here in the Spanish capital she is the defending champion, won against Ashleigh Barty in 2021.
Sabalenka is in good form in any case, in Stuttgart she won against Bianca Aandreescu, Anett Kontaveit and Paula Badosa. Only Swiatek was too strong in the final. But now the Belarusian has to play the player she beat in Charleston a few weeks ago!
Amanda Anisimova was successful with 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. The 20-year-old played her way to the semi-finals at the last tournament, the weak results before were forgotten. She won all three duels against Sabalenka!
The current number 33 in the ranking wants to avoid an early exit in Madrid, last year she was eliminated directly against Maria Sakkari. The bookmakers have her at a very high price, with 2.00 to 1.80 she is only slightly the underdog.
Our Expert Tip: Over 21.5 Games.
