Tennis tips today – Matches today 22.04.

Belgrade, Barcelona or Stuttgart, which tournament will it be? Before the French Open, the men and women could choose where they wanted to perfect their preparation.

From a German perspective, two venues are particularly interesting. In Belgrade, Oscar Otte is attracting attention and can be happy about reaching the quarter-finals. At the Neckar, on the other hand, some German women want to surprise, the entire world elite is competing there.

The action is no less exciting in Barcelona, where the men Stefanos Tsitsipas, Carlos Alcaraz and Casper Ruud are fighting for the trophy. We do not have a German starter here.

The fans will hope that the rain doesn’t put a spoke in their wheel again. World-class women’s and men’s tennis, tennis fans will certainly not be bored these days!

Tennis tips today – 22.04.2022 Preview

Third place against 10th place, the match between Ons Jabeur and Paula Badosa could also be a final! In Stuttgart, both are fighting for a place in the top four, Badosa is the favourite going into the match.

The fans in Swabia are particularly pleased that a player has made it to the quarter-finals despite Angelique Kerber’s elimination! Laura Siegemund is playing great and now also wants to win against Ludmilla Samsonova.

If Alexander Zverev is not at the start, Oscar Otte will step into the breach! In Belgrade he has cut a fine figure so far, and after his win against Aslan Karatsev he has to play Fabio Fognini. Will the underdog role of the bookmakers bother him?

Cameron Norrie should always be counted on, even if the Briton is not in his best shape at the moment. In his round of 16 match in Barcelona, he has to fend off Marton Fucsovics and is favoured.

As strong as Carlos Alcaraz was in Miami, he was all the more disappointing in Monte Carlo despite his favourite surface, clay. Now it’s the Spaniards’ duel against Jaume Munar, and of course the bookies believe in a win for Alcaraz.

Tennis tips today broadcast: Where will the matches be played on 22.04?

Who is showing which tournament? In Belgrade you can be there live if you subscribe to Sky Sport, but you won’t be able to see every rally. Sky also takes care of the broadcast from Barcelona. Eurosport, on the other hand, is responsible for the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, where coverage starts at 5 pm.

Tennis tips today 22.04.: Ons Jabeur – Paula Badosa (12:30 pm)

Jabeur is taking part in the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix for the first time and is selling herself very well so far. After losing her first set against Markete Vondrousova, she went from strength to strength.

4-6, 6-2, 6-3, then beat Daria Kasatkina in a walkover 6-3, 6-3. A whopping 98% of her first serve was successful, you can’t do much better than that. The world No. 10 will now face the world No. 3

Besides the 2015 US Open qualifier (Badosa won), there were two duels last year, both emerged victorious once each. Badosa is lucky to still be in Stuttgart.

She was on the brink of retirement in her 2-6, 4-6, 7-6 loss to Elena Rybakina, making eight double faults and only managing to fend off one break against her. Is she not yet back in top form after her Miami withdrawal due to injury?

Our Expert Tip: Over 21.5 Games

Tennis tips today 22.04: Laura Siegemund vs Ludmila Samsonova (17:00)

There are no fewer who say about Laura Siegemund: “She can only play Stuttgart!” The Swabian is strong on clay anyway, but whenever the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix starts she is at her best.

After her brilliant 6-3, 6-3 against Tamara Zidansek, she was the clear underdog against Maria Sakkari, co-favourite. The Greek gave up at 6-4, 3-1, but that should not diminish Siegemund’s performance.

Now she has to play Ludmila Samsonova, who is 200 places higher in the rankings. After her 6-0, 6-0 win over Chloe Paquet, the Russian also defeated Karolina Pliskova 6-4, 6-4.

Samsonova has not been particularly successful in recent tournaments, so her current role as favourite against Siegemund should be treated with caution. However, the German should also have noticed that she has not yet allowed a single break.

Our Expert Tip: Over 20.5 Games

Tennis tips today 22.04: Cameron Norrie – Marton Fucsovics (13:20)

Number 10 against number 53 and a 3-0 lead in the head-to-head, what could go wrong for Cameron Norrie in his match against Marton Fucsovics? The Briton visibly struggled in his opener in Barcelona.

He had to fight hard to beat Jahor Herassimau 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. After reaching the final in Acapulco, his form dropped so low that he lost in round 1 in Monte Carlo.

He won his only match on clay against Fucsovics outright in two sets in 2019. The Hungarian, however, seems to be in great form in Barcelona. First he won 6-4, 6-2 against Jordan Thompson, then he beat Federico Delbonis in quick time 6-2, 6-1.

It has been more than two months since he last won two matches in a tournament. With an average of 2.20 to 1.60, he is only slightly behind at the bookmakers.

Our expert tip: Over 22.5 Games

Tennis tips today 22.04: Fabio Fognini – Oscar Otte (13:00)

Fabio Fognini has dropped a whopping 30 places in the world rankings recently, and now the Italian finally wants to show performance again. In the last few tournaments he was eliminated without a chance against top stars, but he doesn’t want that to happen in Belgrade.

After beating Marco Cecchinato in three sets, he came back to beat Aljaz Bedene 6-2, 6-3. He will now meet Oscar Otte, who is only five places behind him in the rankings, for the first time.

Fognini is ahead at 1.50 to 2.50 with the bookmakers. But that should not bother the German as he already knocked fourth seed Aslan Karatsev out of the tournament 6-7, 6-1, 6-3.

Before that, he had won straight through against Alejandro Tabilo. Otte made use of five of 13 break chances, so there is still room for improvement. At his premiere in Belgrade, he could now make it into the top four.

Our Expert Tip: Over 22.5 Games

Tennis tips today 22.04: Jaume Munar – Carlos Alcaraz (13:20)

1.20 to 4.40, the average odds already show who should come out on top in the Spanish clash in Barcelona. Carlos Alcaraz should be able to beat Jaume Munar easily on a normal day.

So it was all the more surprising that the 18-year-old made a small mistake in his opening match. 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 against Soon-won Kwon, for a moment he forgot how to play tennis, similar to his early exit in Monte Carlo.

Jaume Munar, on the other hand, already has two matches under his belt, but did very well. First he won 6-2, 6-4 against Gian Marco Moroni, then he gave Nikolos Bassilashvili no chance at 6-1, 6-4.

After his tournament victory at the Marbella Challenger, the 24-year-old also wants to convince at a bigger competition. The fact that he already won once on clay against Alcaraz last year should encourage him.

Our Expert Tip: 2:0 Alcaraz
